I wonder what the criteria is for being considered for the International Selection Pool? Based on Kate Wang's progress, she finally passed the 55 mark in the Short and 100 mark in the Long. According to Kate, she said she needed "at least" 160 domestically, so maybe that's the cut off.

Skate Detroit's Junior Ladies' division just finished and Jessica Lin is in first with a three-tenths lead against Kate Wang. Jessica Lin has been a surprising top junior lady thus far during the summer season and has been very consistent with her 3T+3T. She also has a 3Lz+2T+2Lo I believe. Kate always has a strong start to her season and once again, she completed a clean Short with a 3Lz+3T (she was one of the top novice ladies during the summer, but did not do so well at Nationals). Best of luck to everyone during the Long.

Wang scored about 140-something at Glacier Falls and did not qualify for the ISP. However, at Skate Detroit, her qualifying Free and final Short would put her at around 162-163 and with that score, she finally qualified for the ISP, according to Rudy.

For comparison, Sarah Jung scored 150.88 at 2019 Nats, and won the pewter.

Protocols for club competitions are very rare. Many clubs don’t even post any results of their competitions online. If they do, they focus on placement rather than scores. For example, we were very lucky to get any protocols from Broadmore because they have never published anything but scores. I expect protocols for Glacier Falls, Skate Detroit and Philly Champs. Aside from that don’t expect much.

Glacier Falls changed a lot. Not only did they give detailed protocols for all their IJS events, they also provided high quality video for free of both the juniors and seniors. Those were good days.

In my opinion all of the USFSA qualifying summer competitions should have public protocols and free streaming. If they want to grow the sport, that is.

I've been saying this for years. Here on this site are some big fans who are pretty well versed in the use of the internet. If we have a hard time finding these events, can you imagine how the casual fan feels.

True, US figure skating have to send out people who placed at nationals. LIke isnt that was national is for?? for example jessica lin is doing amazing this season but she ddint qualify for nationals, where as sarah did. Like I think she can become a better skater if if the usfs gives her an international experience.
IS it just me or does anyone notice that the usfs sent all the junior ladies who placed at nationals except sarah?? Like last year emily zhang got a well deserved 5th overall at nationals in junior ladies and they gave her an assignment at the egna trophy ( even tho she withdrew due to injury) and gave gabrielle izzo germany i believe even tho she placed 6th overall and they didnt even reach the isp score at nationals either. So im very confused on what the usfs is doing.

I've been saying this for years. Here on this site are some big fans who are pretty well versed in the use of the internet. If we have a hard time finding these events, can you imagine how the casual fan feels.

It's such an inexpensive way of promoting skating! Ask one of USFS sponsors to cover the cost of the streaming and give out free tickets. People all over the world wanted to watch Broadmoor because Alysa, Karen, Jason, Amber, Ting, Andrew, Tomoki, etc were there. Young landed her first 3A! It was a great opportunity to high light US talent. Today we just missed the US Pairs champs at their competition along with other several other notable pairs. Why not use these opportunities to high light these summer comps and high level skaters. It seems like a no brained to me.

If Amber shows that she can be consistent, I'm not sure why not. Amber has the ability to score higher than Megan when she's on, but the other two do not meltdown and are more consistent. Amber has competed three times: Skate Dallas, Broadmoor (Short only), and now Skate Detroit. Of the 3 times, she's performed two clean Short programs and had her worst showing at Skate Dallas where she debuted her new programs. The question remains: can Amber put together two clean programs? If she can, she will score around 180-200 and that is a much higher scoring range than Megan's 170-180ish.

True, she has higher scoring potential out of the three: Starr has bad SS and can only do a toe-toe, and Megan just doesn’t seem to have her feet under her. I’m rooting for Amber. But has Amber put together two clean programs since 2014 junior nationals? And the usfsa seem to really like Starr, so does Amber have any shot at the SA host spot?

I agree, I truly want Amber to be given the host spot for Skate America. Who knows, she might blow everyone away. Starr might have bad skating skills, but she knows how to sell a program. Megan moves like a gazelle across the ice, but she doesn’t have the 3-3 or consistency to go head to head with the final flight ladies.

Starr has a GP already they're going to give it to someone that doesn't have a spot. Meghan has scored low on both her comps. If Amber does well, she should get the spot.

well she is still young and tiny, but we need to wait til she gets older cause she has no speed going into them, so she cant really fall cause she is so tiny
