2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Is a 160+ total score really good, though? I thought that to make the podium at a jgp event, a junior ladies skater needed around 175+ or more. And even that sounds really low.

164 is quite good in the USA. She is also quite young and the US has 14 jgp spots this season and 164 is one of the highest totals from a junior in the US this season

Kate’s PCS is quite low (in the lower 20’s for the Short and mid to high 40’s for the Long). Also, summer competitions are not an indicator of how well a skater will do during the remainder of the season as their programs are fresh, a little bare, and they are still working on incorporating the movements, transitions, and jumps. Skaters should not peak during the summer, so if Kate can score 160+ at a summer competition, as the season progresses and she begins to peak, her score will rise with it. Kate has qualified for the ISP and will probably be given a JGP very soon. Additionally, the last time we had this many Junior girls attempting clean 3-3’s was back in 2017-2018.

Junior Ladies w/ Clean 3-3s:
- Kate Wang executed a 3Lz+3T, 3Lz+3Lo, and 3F+Eu+3S
- Isabelle Inthisone executed a 3F+3T and 3Lz+Eu+3S
- Lindsay Thorngren executed a 3Lz+3T
- Jessica Lin executed a 3T+3T
- Mia Kalin executed a 3Lz+3T and 3F+Eu+3S (Not eligible for ISP until the the 2021-2022 season)
- Isabeau Levito executed a 3Lo+3T and 3Lz+3T+2T (Not eligible for ISP until next year)
- Noella Rose executed a 3Lz+3T
- Gabriella Izzo executed a clean 3F+3Lo at Glacier Falls in her Short
- Audrey Shin executed a clean 3Lz+3T at Nationals
- Alysa Liu has many clean 3-3s
- Hanna Harrell has a 3F+3T and 3Lz+3T
- Sarah Jung has 3Lz+3T and 3F+Eu+3S

I might be missing a few, but the junior scene has not been this exciting for a very long time. Of course, jumping is not everything and we do have some very artistic and dramatic skaters such as Isabeau, Lindsay, and Isabelle.

Just for fun, here’s a list of the seniors on the International Selection Pool with clean 3-3’s:
- Starr Andrews with her 3T+3T
- Bradie Tennell with her 3Lz+3T and 3Lz+3Lo
- Mariah Bell’s iffy 3Lz+3T
- Ting Cui has a 3Lz+3T and 3F+Eu+3S
- Megan has a 3T+3T but we have not seen a clean one this year
- Pooja has a 3T+3T, 3F+3T, and 3Lz+3T
- Karen has a 3Lz+3T
- Amber Glenn has a 3F+3T
- Courtney Hicks has a 3F+3Lo

Anecdotally:

Los Angeles Open starts tomorrow, and Starr Andrews recently said in an Insta Live that she will be competing there.

ETA (on Jul 12):

Emmy Ma is entered in U.S. Collegiates (Jul 28 - 30), per the practice groups PDF.

And Heidi Munger will return.

I have tried to look at that pdf approximately 1,000 times and always get “bandwidth limit exceeded.” Anyone else having this problem?

The Philadelphia competition begins in two or three days, right? Does anyone know who’s competing?
I don’t think Gracie will be there, unless she’s purposely trying to delay any knowledge that she’ll be there, in order to stop a big crowd from coming. Idk.

The ISP isn’t a competition- it’s a USFS list of skaters eligible for selection to international competition. But I think a lot of clips have already been posted above of the comps where they earned the qualifying scores. If not, I think you can find them on YouTube.

Tweaks for haribobo's list:

- Jill Heiner had a better score at Skate Wilmington. (See above.)

- Julia Biechler's score from Skate Wilmington belongs on the list.

- Wrong segment name is listed for Elsa Cheng, Allison Zheng, Calista Choi.

Elsa Cheng 158.83 is from NQS Novice at Skate Milwaukee.
Her NAC score: 147.74.

Calista Choi 138.29 is from NQS Junior at Skate Milwaukee.
She did not compete in NAC.

Nitpicking :hopelessness:, but Allison Zheng 139.26 is from NQS Junior at Skate Milwaukee.
(Allison Zheng 138.30 is from NAC at Skate Milwaukee.)

No it’s not good enough for a podium spot. But with 15 slots, that’s beside the point. In order for these girls to become competitive in the future they need international experience. By going to a JGP, Kate can witness competitive ladies from all over the globe. See better what she needs to work on and focus on those skills as well as honing the skills that she already has. It may be that next year after getting some much needed international exposure she not only comes with a consistent 3A but formidable skating skills and transitions as well.

sarah is struggling with her short alot this year. IF she can do a clean short at philly, her total score will be much over 150+. Just watch her at philly because i plan to watch her the stands

160+ may not be good enough for a podium spot, but it certainly is one of the highest summer scores for a junior. Plus, we have 7 Juniors scoring above 160 IN THE SUMMER when their programs are new. I’m expecting that if Pooja goes clean and so does Emilia Murdock, they’ll score 180+. Emilia actually scored 177 internationally this year.

SENIOR LADIES summer scores over 140

Alysa Liu 214 Broadmoor

Quite incredible that Alysa scores 200+ time and time again.
Her consistency on triples is amazing, given her recent force majeure circumstances, those are nerves of steel of this little one right there.

Well, the usfs is over scoring her in the PSC and really trying to protect her
