Looks good!

Karen in first after the short with a score of ~65 (~34 TES, ~30 PCS) No deductions, so no falls
Karen probably received an under-rotation call. Here's the video of her 3Lz+3T --> https://twitter.com/sk8maven/status/1157328168665174016?s=20

- Hanna executed a 3Lz+2T instead of 3Lz+3T despite doing multiple 3Lz+3T during the warm up.
- Pooja had some wonky landings and her second 3T was doubled.
- Videos of Karen and Starr will be up soon.

She looks great! It seems like she fully rotated the 3Lz+3T, but under rotated the 3Lo. Watching the video, it looks like the 3Lo is slightly under.

Assistant tech is Shin so I have some faith that the team is calling everything as how it should be.

Hannah has some powerful jumps. Karen looked nice as well, I always thought she was more than capable of doing a 3A-Karen has always had a beautiful 2A.

Karen Chen, 3Lz+3T, 3Lo, and 2A - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxq4bBgrgRA

All in all, Hanna looks to be in decent shape and Karen looks to be in great shape. The 3Lo in Karen's Short seemed to be under-rotated, so that kept her from scoring above 70. However, if Karen manages to "break out" at Skate America, I'm sure her scores and PCS will rise accordingly because this Short is the quintessential vehicle to announce her comeback. Starr... her jumps look rough, but I like the arm movements. Also, I hope Amber gets the Skate America spot because her Short and Long are beautiful and they deserve to be seen and heard. Best of luck to the ladies tomorrow in the Free.

Also, Alysa and others competed at a club event and she is indeed keeping her Short from last season. In Canada, the North American Cup is going on and ladies like Audrey and Isabeau Levito have been invited.

I just watched Sarah jung do her short program at Philadelphia in the domestic senior. Her skating was probably the most beautiful out of anyone I watched in the event. She earned 53 I think. Her 3Lutz-3T was a bit shaky but she still managed to hang one. The Lutz was so tilted but she still did the triple toe. And she did a wonderful 2A and 3L. And really fast spins and a deep edgy footwork! Go Sarah! !

It all comes down to Megan tomorrow. If she scores higher than 116, she may very well snatch the spot from Amber. That’s because this is an international competition versus a domestic one, and harder to get higher scores. Amber has a 170, but only scored a 105 in her FS. If Megan shows she can score higher than her, they’ll give it to her again.

I will admit that I am surprised and impressed at Karen's current form. Considering her rough Olympic outing, boot drama, and injuries (especially last year), I wasn't expecting much from her this season, but she looks better than ever.

I will also say that watching Karen, Hanna, and Starr's SPs in a row....ugh, sometimes so many lyrics are annoying!

Since the competition is over, I can finally say that the American ladies did well in Canada today. Here are my thoughts on the US ladies who competed at the North American Cup.

North American Cup Novice Ladies Scores:
2. Audrey Meredith, 45.70 / 3Lz+2T, 3Lo, and 2A - Had a big smile, great rotational speed and spins, good speed for her age, and a 2A that was like butter
3. Tamnhi Huyhn, 45.37 / 2A, 3Lz, 3Lo+2T (?) - A dynamic skater with secure jumps, but the music choice is... questionable
5. Isabeau Levito, 39.13 / 3Lz (Fall), 3Lo(?)+3T, and 2A - A CHARACTER on the ice with great spins, VERY secure jumps (she just got the 3Lz this year), and the only critique I have would be her speed
6. Adele Zheng, 38.55 / 3Lz+2T, 3F, and 2A (Fall) - Quite musical for her age with good spins and a fun program
8. Hannah Harrera, 35.84 / 3Lz (Huge, but fell), 3F+2T (Step-out), and 2A - Very unique music choice that reminds me of a Lorde song, moves fast across the ice, and has a nice presence on the ice
10. Amber Barth, 32.75 / 3Lo+2T, 3F, and 2A - Under-rotation problems and slow spins, but otherwise an enjoyable skate

I like Hannah, the program needs a bit more polish and time is running short-but it is a good program. A tiny issue is that her arms get sloppy, but this is certainly fixable. She is definitely a contender for the future. Karen was lovely, but given the level of the seniors this year, I think she needs a bit more challenging choreography. Just going by Megan's speed last year, I would submit her for the 3d spot. (I have not seen her this year). Alysa seems to be taking a page out of the Russian Pagebook-compete your program at every opportunity possible. Smart move on the part of Team Alysa.

It seems like Megan, Starr, and Akari are struggling. If none of them turn in a strong long program performance today, I say give the SA spot to Amber.

But today we’ll finally get to see Megan’s long program ( what music is she skating to? ) and Starr’s Dance of the Seven Veils program!!!!

After how Megan skated today, the Skate America spot is probably Amber's. Megan scored 140.22 at Philadelphia.

Karen in 2nd with 182 total, Hanna in third with 165 total

Judging by TES, Karen had a fall and probably a few URs... PCS seems way too low considering her talent + the audience reaction I've seen so far. But good for her for putting out 2 programs with only 1 fall. If she can continue on this path, GOE + PCS should rise and tech panel may be more lenient

Hannah had 2 falls, but lots of people are talking about her natural jumping talent. Still a more successful outting than Broadmoor, right? Not sure. Hopefully she can keep working out her kinks and continue the momentum she started at US nats and JR worlds when her season officially begins in a few weeks.

I'm interested in seeing both of their long programs, hopefully there will be videos soon!
