2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Hanna Harrell withdrew from the U.S. International Classic due to injury. Hanna is also shooting something with U.S. Figure Skating alongside her mother. According to her Instagram post, she said that she will be in the boot for two more weeks plus a few more to focus on recovery. This likely entails Hanna withdrawing from Egna. I wish Hanna a full and speedy recovery.

Lindsay Thorngren is now assigned to Poland alongside Alysa Liu and Sarah Jung is assigned to Croatia along with Gabriella Izzo. Best of luck to these young ladies.

Wishing Hanna a speedy recovery!

Which ladies skaters were on the replacement list for the US International Classic?

Never mind. I see Ting and Amber on the list and no replacement as of yet. I really hope another lady gets to go.

I watched the mid Atlantic's in new york.. and the jugdes seem to overscore alittle to all the skaters there. I guess it's because it's one of the final NQS competitions

Isabeau Levito’s Free at Mid Atlantics, earning a score of 176.30:

Stunning 3Lz with good height and distance. Spins are a little slow, but I’m sure they’ll work on it. She learned the 3Lz this year and I’m sure they’re already working on the harder elements as they prepare for her international debut next year.

wow, she skates so maturely for being 12! i'm gonna go ahead and predict novice national champ.

... i'm gonna go ahead and predict novice national champ.

Reminder: There will be no such thing as novice nationals or "novice national champ," starting this season.

For singles, the top two novices at each sectional will be allowed to compete at junior nationals.

Forgot to wish good luck to all competing this week: Audrey Shin, Kate Wang, Megan Wessenberg, Starr Andrews, Karen Chen.

Don’t forget the top two novices of each sectional will be invited to compete at Junior champs on January. Isabeau May very well get on the podium as a junior.

Are there differences in technical (or time) requirements between junior and novice programs?

Not anymore really. They’ve added the extra jump to novice, and the time length. However in juniors you have the required jump. This year it’s the loop. So kids will have to change their solo jump and possible combo as well.

In the post of mine that you quoted, I had spelled out exactly that.
(Plus for reference, I also gave a link to one of the USFS charts showing that path.)

I did not forget at all. :)

That wouldn't surprise me at all. That tech content was as difficult or moreso than what the rest of the junior ladies are bringing this year.

Isabeau appears to be one of several female skaters that registered in the NQS as both a Novice and Junior. Haley Scott is another well known skater who chose to do this.

My guess is such skaters looked at their standings as of Sept 1 (deadline for Regionals) and then decided which level they want to pursue. If they are in the top 6 for both levels, my guess is they will opt for juniors since that route has 2x as many slots going to Nationals.
