2019 U.S. Nationals Senior Men FS

Alexei got 5th!!!! I'm so happy for him. Just needs to get his citizenship all sorted out and I can see him maybe getting to the Olympics. :cheer:

It is a crime Vincent ended up ahead of Jason. Like I literally want to call the police.

Disagree. Had Jason gone clean without any quads, maybe. But with Jason popping twice, I can't argue that Vincent's higher tech making up for Jason's higher PCS/GOE wasn't justified.

Probably would have been a bit closer internationally between him and Jason (even Charlie said that 4Lz was under), but Jason made mistakes so I can’t argue with the result.

Internationally, Vincent would have another UR and the PCS would be a lot lower. Not sure he would win. But, Jason and Vincent are both going to worlds so it is not that important. I hope Jason lands the quad at worlds. I also hope Vincent finds someone to help with the URs. He is so earnest and hardworking.

Anyone know if the exhibition is going to be shown tonight? NBC Sports Gold doesn't show it as coming up but Charlie and Michael were saying to come back at 8.

Ok, Nathan is my baby hardcore but can we slow down on the beating Yuzu thing?

I'm not saying he can't but please remember everything Yuzu brings to the table. It's the butter jumps and the transitions before and after. It's the musicality and the flow over the ice. Having the judges overlook those things would not be a good thing because I want Nathan to continue to grow.

Just my two cents :slink:

A real rivalry at the top (not a manufactured one) not only makes things more exciting for us fans, but it pushes the sport forward. So I'm all for a heated rivalry between the two. Everyone benefits.

Actually a few days ago, he posted on his Instagram that he got his green card approved. So that's one step closer.

My guide shows it will be broadcast next Sunday afternoon on NBC- east coast US, maybe other times elsewhere?

Yeah, I agree. I feel like a season or two ago there was some criticism of Nathan for being all quads, no artistry/SS, in comparison to Hanyu who really is the whole package. My comment was just meant to say that Nathan is developing so well in GOE, SS, and artistry alongside his monster tech, that I don't think it's always going to be a given that Hanyu is the best. Nathan is getting so good in every respect that I think he's a true rival for Hanyu. Is it selfish to hope that Hanyu doesn't retire for a good long time, so that we can hopefully see a long series of Hanyu v. Chen both at their very peak?

Skate Radio says IF Nathan can go lay down a performance like that at Worlds no one can beat him. Agree or disagree?

The real part is key though. I hate when they make it a rivalry before its time. For example Sale/Pelletier should have never been put in the same league as B/S in the second mark. But the judges wanted to give us a rivalry so they created that storyline in 2001. :dev2: Where there are differences in things like skating skills, transitions, etc. those things should be reflected in the marks.

To me that still means that clean Yuzu >> clean Nathan. Ice is slippery and anything can happen of course.

Our medal/flower girls are nicely dressed, but compared to other nations we always looked like Office workers or from boarding school. Sigh..

Well ... both Hanyu and Uno can, if they also go clean. But even small errors from any of them could make the difference. God, that would be a fantasy event- Hanyu, Uno, and Chen ALL going perfectly clean and forcing the judges into a conniption to determine the podium?

After not falling in his actual programs, the fall tried to manifest itself during the medal ceremony. BUT of course our Nathan was not going to allow that. :noshake:

Tomoki FS scores just three points lower than Jason. Didn't expect that. Can't wait to see protocols.

As someone else wrote, what is the worlds junior team going to look like? Will there be a Camden or has he aged out? We'll know soon enough.
