Instagram, that's how I watched a lot of the GP last year. Look up a big name skater @ the competition and usually you can find a tag with the competition name and click on that, then bam you have most of the performances. No VPN required.

I think the point of wanting to watch a livestream is to want to watch the actual competition... live. Not after the fact. ;-)

When/where did NBC definitively say that it is not offering a skating package this season? (For U.S. viewers.)
Have I missed something???
I am aware that NBC had not yet started selling its skating package for this season -- but I am not aware of an announcement that NBC never is going to offer one.

Has anyone received any notification yet from NBC regarding the 2020-21 Sports Gold season pass? I appreciate that it will be tough to offer something that may unfortunately not happen as planned (if at all). But, there are still plenty of past competitions that would be worth viewing...
I went ahead and reread it, and it looks like they're being ambiguous, so I guess I can't say they've definitively said. The addition of the archives recently (which I had not heard about) is promising, but really... we're what, 2.5 weeks out from Skate America? The fact that they've kept putting people off with "when the skating returns, we'll do something then," even though the skating is, in fact, returning in just a few weeks, sounds to me like they're not planning on doing anything. It's hard to organize a substantial broadcast on the spur of the moment, on top of advertising and selling the passes and all of that. SA usually has commentary too. Unlike the other posters in the thread, I haven't even gotten any emails from them about their plans. So maybe they'll put all that together, and in two weeks we'll all have bought passes and be ready to go, but I have my doubts.
But I could be wrong. I've been wrong before! I hope that if they do decide to do something, they don't charge the full $50 for it. That would be a lot considering we might only have the Grand Prix this year, US nationals, and perhaps Europeans.

The pandemic obviously has wreaked havoc with planning across the board [ETA: understandably so].
For example, the following pieces of news have come only very recently [ETA: again, understandably so]:
- ISU's definitive postponement of GPF.
- USFS announcement of no spectators for Skate America; Skate Canada's announcement of no spectators for Skate Canada International.
- ISU's announcement of GP assignments (way later than in a normal year).
Given the unpredictability/uncertainty of changes/decisions by governing bodies for the sport (and by national/local governments), it is no wonder that NBC has held off from nailing down and announcing its own plans for the season.
I think that there are a lot of contingencies that NBC must consider how to handle.
I believe the eight events of the USFS Championship Series (replacing regionals/sectionals this season) would be part of the NBC streaming package.
Alysa Liu has a bye to Nats, but she already has said that she plans to compete in two Championship Series events (two being the maximum per skater).
And I think Alysa could be just one example that the fields at Championship Series events potentially could be more interesting than the fields at regional/sectionals in a normal year would be.
Seems very possible to me that others with byes to Nats will do the same as Alysa (although they normally would skip regionals/sectionals).

Due to how deprived we have been of skating content, I am in no position to complain. There were many factors (most of them unknown) that contributed to the situation we are in right now and I'm just glad that we will have mini-Nationals. I miss the excitement of the Grand Prix season and anything remotely similar is good in my books.

To be honest, it is a little worrying to me that we haven't heard anything yet about the Grand Prix events being streamed in the US. It seems like NBC Sports Gold is for the most part migrating over to Peacock, but there haven't been any announcements about figure skating being available there, and we're less than 2 weeks out. Hopefully they're still nailing down the specifics for the reasons ice coverage said.
I tried looking up the original ISU announcement about the 2019/2020 season livestreams.

Yay!!!!! Haha, I've never been so happy to be wrong! This is great news.
She took part in a local competition in Poland last week and as far as I know she's not going back to TCC in near future.
Just asking as someone with little knowledge about broadcasting. Last season, how was the ISU able to live stream each event? I know for instance that NBC did broadcast the events for the US audiences, but at the same time, the ISU live streamed the event as well. Did they send an "ISU team" (or the host federation sent a team) to the event to record and stream? I don't know how it always worked with the JGP either. Or how the broadcasting in general ever worked.

I am quite suprise why Kurakowa earned the place instead of Feigin from Bulgaria who has better world standing than lit if other skaters who got place!
I'm not. It was Katia's first international season (and Alexandra's second, what changes WS a lot). Katia had better results than Alexandra (look at last season world ranking, she's 15th while Alexandra is 41st) and her SB is 24 points higher.
