Why is Alysa leaving so late? She missed walking in the opening ceremony which might be the only time she ever has the chance.

Can anyone confirm if Stepanova & Bukin made it to Beijing?
I would hate to see them not have their Olympic experience.
I can remember Caryn Kadavy having to withdraw from 1988 after the SP with the flu and how badly I felt for her as the World Bronze Medalist. To not get to skate at all would be terrible. At least Vincent got to skate the Team event and should eventually get a medal.
