The 2023 Bosphorus Cup will take place Nov 27 - Dec 3, 2023, in Istanbul, Turkey. The event will feature the Singles (Women and Men) and Ice Dance disciplines in the Novice, Junior and Senior categories, and will be conducted in accordance with the 2022 ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating and relevant ISU Communications.

Ah, so Laurin Wiederkehr has a new partner. Glad it didn't take him too long.

I'd love to know if his former partner, Milla O'Brien, is making any progress in finding a new partner. Or if she has maybe moved on from skating. Since she and her family moved across the Atlantic, Milla hasn't posted anything skating related. (She's still on IPS, but her page hasn't been updated since 26th May. So, it will become hidden in a few days).

I'm still disappointed that they split (of course I am - I was in the middle of adopting them!) But, I understand that the logistics wouldn't have worked with them living on different continents.

Looking forward to seeing what Seraina and Laurin are like.

I don't know for sure, but I would say that the Turkish Fed's YouTube channel is the likely place for it:

This is where the Bosphorus Cup was streamed last season, and they have streamed three domestic events on there this season already.

So, I hope they do the same for the Bosphorus Cup this year.

I would love to see the skating of Konstantin, Inga and the Georgian dancing team (Alieva-Barshak) that I liked so much at the Denis Ten Memorial. They are all here again, apparently they are all buying tickets at the same time? For some reason, this season I want to cheer for the unusual Georgian team.

The Bosphorus Cup starts with an Advanced Novice double-bill. A marathon of 36 girls; followed by a group of 8 boys. The girls are arranged into three groups of 7; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 7; followed by a group of 8.

The arena is very echoey, so I didn't make out what the announcer said at the start.

Was there a particular reason that the "Last Post" was played before the national anthem? Was it to remember the victims of the earthquake that led to the cancellation of the last international skating event that Turkey was spposed to host, the Ephesus Cup? Or is today maybe a significant date in Turkish history? I don't know if it is or not.

There was a girl called Zeynep that last season did a brilliant programme to "Mickey" by Toni Basil. But I can't remember her surname, so I'm not sure if it was this skater (#11); or the skater (#13) that is coming up after the next skater; or the skater (#26) that is coming up in two groups time; or the skater that is going at #3 in Juniors later on; or a skater that is not competing here at all!

Gaaahhh!!! "Tango De Roxanne!" from skater #16.

But she goes into 3rd position to become the top Turkish skater. And she is only 0.76 points behind the Georgian skater currently in 2nd.

You know, it is kinda sad looking at the standings as they are at the moment, and seeing 14 of the bottom 16 positions occupied by skaters from Turkey. But, I suppose that is a side-effect of us only having had 4 foreign skaters so far.

Skater #17 is the first of 3 Kazakh skaters coming up in this group. So, it will be interesting to see where they slot in. Whether they can break up the wall of Turkish flags a bit more.

By the way, we have a Kazakh skater leading.

Just to update you, we now have four Kazakh skaters in the Top 6 - in 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th. The Georgian skater is now 3rd, and the Turkish skater that did "Tango De Rozanne" is now 4th.

I'm going to be popping in and out to make toast during this group, so I will be drifting behind LIVE. But, if there is a short gap before the boys, I should catch up then. If not, well, there's an hour break before the Juniors start.

And I have already made up a bit of time, because the first skater in this group, skater #22, has withdrawn.

Phew. I was worried there when Inga's name was called and all we saw was empty ice. But, then the camera turned, and she emerged from one of the blind spots.

The perspex catch fences that this rink has for the ice hockey are useless. What use are they if you can't actually see through them?!

Oh, with keeping an eye on what was going on with my youngest kid in Budapest, I forgot to mention that Inga went into a very small lead of only 17.02 points, over skater #2 Cathryn LIMKETKAI (PHI).

Seriously, though, 64.69 points is going to be hard to catch.
