2024-25 Japanese Nationals Free Dance

Ahhhh that makes sense, didn't think of "turn" at all 😂

Congrats UtaMasa national champion
Now, I hope they keep building their intl reputation, and hopefully when many top teams retire after the olympics, they can place top 10 at worlds to bring in another spot for Japan

As for 4CC, do they still have 3 spots? But even if they do only AzuShin and UtaMasa have the minimums I believe?

Great job AzuShin!!
Wow in the replay they looked really close to each other during the twizzles to the point it looks a bit scary 😅

Also can someone explain to me why the one foot sequence is called ワンフットターン aka one foot ta-n?
Japanese language doesn't differentiate between "a" and "u" very well

Amazing UtaMasa!! They managed to perform this warhorse well, love the choreo at the very end 😍
I do like AzuShin, he is so yummy :love2:, but I guess they are being held back by Azusa's injury and her relative lack of experience in ice dance, whereas Utamasa are both seasoned ice dancers (sorry if I'm wrong, don't know much about Masaya, but I remember Utana when she was competing with Shingo).

Yeah, I actually speak Japanese pretty well but some Japanified english written in katakana still trips me up sometimes 😅
I guess it shows more my lack of knowledge of Ice Dance, as I thought the element is called "one foot sequence" and not "one foot turn" and hence my brain didn't connect the ターン as turn 😂

I actually like how Japanese vowels are way more consistent than English - how their "a" is a very clear "aaaah" sound and their "u" is a very clear "ooo" sound. Hence I get why they use "ta" sound for how the word "turn" is pronounced in English 😊

Masaya did pretty well in junior ice dance with Nao Kida, they won a bronze medal in one of their JGPs. IIRC they split at the end of the 22/23 season, and Masaya has been teaming up with Utana since then.
