The 2024 Diamond Spin is set to take place Oct 17-20, 2024, in Katowice, Poland. The competition will feature the Singles (Women and Men), Pairs and Ice Dance disciplines in the Novice, Junior and Senior categories.

The event will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, the Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

Day 1 Live Stream

The stream is unrewindable again. The same as last year.

For a sec after the streaming was done it was possible to rewind the stream before they removed the video

Had some fun watching some of the performances from the last groups. Particular had my eyes on a girl with green dress, Cats hair and skating to Toxic by Britney Spears That is my kind of girl, might have to adopt her.

The Italian skater in third, Zoe, was very charismatic, the face make up was commitment.

The Slovakian girl had a triple lutz, she kinda looked old enough to skate in juniors I missed the German girl in first place.

Very surprised to see two Norwegian girls place top 10 from two different clubs. Particular since both of those girls competed this weekend in a domestic competition in Northern Norway, they must have taken a flight almost directly to this competition, since the competition ended on Sunday. Not sure why they would do the domestic when they had scheduled this so close.

Linnea who is now in 6th place skates in the Ishavsbyen club which is located in Northern Norway. It´s great to see them develop talents despite being so rural and far from resources. The success is probably a result form the club being able to get in the Austrian coaches, Team Eisenbauer-Reitmayer, since they came to the club the skaters have developed into the top in domestic competitions, where before they couldn´t quite match them. Linnea even got a PB here, 2 points above her best domestic score that she got this weekend. Unfortunately I wasn´t able to rewind to see her performance. But I saw Vilde in 9th place, and she was so thrilled with her score. She also got a new PB.

As I have 5 days off work now I think I probably will watch the two last groups of Novice girls tomorrow

I managed to watch only few girls yesterday, I liked Natalia Żurek, she has quite good presentation, is fast and coordinated and moves very gracefully. Today I wasn't able to watch until now and from the scores I presume that she had good FS and will move about 10 places up. Girl is only 12 and has lots of potential. Still thinking about goung to Katowice at weekend to see Ioulia and Michał.

She landed two nice, springy 3Ts, but also had two hard falls (on a 2A and a 3Lo attempt).

I watched the Warm-Up but, honestly, it was a waste of time doing so. It was a static camera pointed towards the gate, and all you saw were skaters going from one side to the other. I don't think we managed to see even one element from any skater.

However, I was able to spot that Liza is wearing a different dress to what she wore at the Nebelhorn. This one is part pale blue and part dark blue, with a diagonal skin-coloured part in between.

RIght, I am trying to get something watched before quarter to, so I will pop back to it, and then return when Liza comes on.
