I just noticed that the Olympic torch lighting ceremony will be happening in Olympia, Greece on April 16! I'm thinking about getting up very early to see this...! 😁 The live video stream will be at the link below. ⤵️

Here's the beautiful story from Gabriella Papadakis, Ice Dance OGM, the first French athlete to receive the flame from the Greeks in Olympia to carry it forward to Paris. As most of you know, Gabriela is half Greek herself so there is some very special symbolism to that moment when France met Greece and Winter OG met Summer OG as Gabriella received and caried the Olympic flame. You can find a video of Gabi carrying the Flame embedded just below her beautiful personal post.

And here a video of that moment

The Olympic flame will be arriving in Marseille in about half an hour!

I found a breakdancing qualifier replay on Peacock USA and figured, hey, might as well see what that’s about since it’s an Olympic sport now.

I get the vibe there’s a certain similarity with skating, oddly enough, when it comes to discussions of whether big flashy moves or footwork and excellent execution of fundamental moves should be more prioritized. It’s a bit different than what I’d think of as old school playground breakdancing, and I’m now curious to tune into the big event for Paris.

The Olympics channel posted highlights for Breaking from the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai:

CBC Sports also posted the final from the Pan Am Games featuring Phil Wizard (CAN) vs Jeffro (USA) here. It may be geoblocked for non-Canadians.

It's an interesting format, I like the duel feel to it. I'll definitely check it out :)

In 2030, Winter Olympics gonna probably be in France too. Don't be surprised if I sell a kidney to be rinkside for figure skating:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I will ask this question everywhere, where I go: is the ISU planning to reform the Olympic qualification for figure skating? it is ridiculous that personalities, programs, choreographies and costumes get spots, which are then handed over to someone else by a national association. I think the track and field qualification can be a good example to follow: there is a very strong level (in fs the TES of course, eg. in ladies... hm 40.5 in sp), then the world ranking.
I really don't like to see any Viveca Lindfors and any Hongyi Chen beyond the backboard

It is all over. China wins the gold medal count! 40 to the USA's 38.
No, it's not.

There was a track cycling medal that hadn't been updated when you looked, won by another American, so it's up to 39.

And, the women's basketball gold medal game hasn't been played yet, so unless France pulls off the biggest upset ever, there's a pretty good chance it'll be tied.

Well done the USA in that case. USA won't lose this basketball match. China has done well to close the gap between the two superpowers.
