Actually no Sarina did not do JGP this season, it was last season when she skated for Switzerland. In the beginning of this season she was not able to compete because of country change and after that she only did seniors.

The junior world ranking only came to play this season, so no result from previous seasons counts. I also think since she changed country it wouldn´t have counted anyway if the ranking began last season.

But that is an interesting point about previous seasons. It was always based on the past 2 seasons, wasn't it? But, if they have changed the system, then I guess they can't do that this season. But, I guess it will be back to normal next season.

I would have thought switching countries wouldn't have mattered, since the ranking is personal. But, of course, sitting out for 12 months will have a big effect on how many points you will have accumulated.

By the way, the livescoring page is now working.

Can't say I like this music that Oona OUNASVUORI (FIN) is skating to. It is not my taste at all.

It's more Loena than Oona.

Since the junior ranking is a new system, I do not think they can go back in time and give skaters ranking points for the previous season, but next season for sure this season will count towards the total point in the junior world ranking.

I´m not sure about the switching country and ranking points, you make a good point, maybe i´m confused because in new partnership in ID your previous result as ID won´t count.

Ach, fall. It's a pity, because the rest of the programme was skated good.

Because of the fall, I don't think she'll take the lead. But she should easily go into 2nd.

Ooh. She does, but is 10 points behind Mako. I wasn't expecting her to be that far behind.

Didn't get watching Niina PETROKINA (EST) properly, because I was frantically writing a couple of reminder posts for the Abu Dhabi Classic Trophy, before realising that I had got my times mixed up and, rather than being 20 minutes late, I was 40 minutes early. :p

And then I remembered that the Sarajevo Open was about to return from a long break, and I had to frantically write a reminder post for it.

Anyway, Niina goes into 2nd, splitting the Japanese girls. But she is only 0.25 ahead of Hana YOSHIDA! :drama:

Was Nina crying because she is sad about her performance (what is logical after the injury - I didn't expect her to be back so early) or because she is happy to be back on the ice ?
 
I love Japanese skaters. I love Middle Eastern music. And I love this costume!

Needless to say, I LOVED THAT!!!

Oh, I really hope Rion SUMIYOSHI (JPN) goes into the lead! Because, although I love Liza Gervits' "Danse Macabre", this is my favourite programme so far.

Oh, she doesn't. But she does go into 2nd position, 3.32 points behind Mako YAMASHITA (JPN).

So, back to a Japanese 1-2!

I should probably add for context, Olesja LEONOVA (EST) was in Lõunakeskus last week, where she finished 4th out of 5 in both segments, and overall.

But, she scored a lot higher today than last week! 8.33 points higher, in fact!

She goes into 8th position. So, whatever happens, she will be higher than penultimate position this time.

It must just have been the choreography. Because the combination is down as her first element.

Such a pity she had the hand down on the first part of that combination jump. Because the rest of the programme was beautiful.

She goes into 7th. And she's happy.

Oooh, just noticed, she's only 0.44 behind Oona OUNASVUORI (FIN)!

We've got a tight Norwegian battle in Juniors, and a tight Finnish battle in Seniors!

Kristina Shkuleta-Gromova (EST) was in Lõunakeskus last week too. And she ran away with the competition. Absolutely dominated it! Won both segments and the title.

And she won the SP by a country mile over my kid, Aleksandra Golovkina.

Her score last week in the SP was 4.05 points lower than today.

She goes into 5th position, but is only 1.20 points away from the podium.

This being married is clearly working for her! She is skating better this season than I can remember her ever skating before.

And to end the day, and our Senior double-bill, it's chaos! :devil: 10 boys, arranged into two groups of 5. Well, it was supposed to be. Skater #6, Daniels KOCKERS (LTU), has withdrawn, so we now have 4 skaters in Group 2, and 9 overall.

Wow Japan really sends their skaters out. Haha, it's not like Miura needs his qual tech. Great skate, all green. Is there a competition among the men to get the spots for worlds? SP 99.59
 
What a start to the competition!

Mako YAMASHITA (JPN) led the Senior Ladies SP from start to finish. I suspected before this started that Kao MIURA (JPN) would do the same in Senior Men. But after that performance, it is going to take some skate to upstage him!

Less than half a point off the ton! :drama:

And after mentioning my kid Aleksandra Golovkina barely half an hour ago, I am now hearing her SP music, courtesy of Landry le MAY (FRA).

Still prefer the normal "Clair De Lune" to this version.

He goes into 2nd, a decent 7 points ahead of Brandon BAILEY (GBR), but miles behind the leader.
