2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

I'm sorry Rose has been injured for so long, but I'm glad she's back!
She's been injured for about 2 years now... it's a long road ahead. I really liked her performances when she was healthy (a few years ago as a junior), so I hope she does indeed get back to her own level.

Claire Cloutier from A Divine Sport interviewed Lia Pereira/Trennt Michaud at Worlds:
Well….. Lia and Trennt skated a clean short program to lead the Glaciers Pairs event with a score of 67.95. I prefer their Sing Sing program though…😏

Calissa Adlem skated quite well at Glacier. 150.36 total score. Her personal best, I believe. Not bad.
Maybe, Skate Canada will give her one JGP assignment since she was close to 155. Good job Calissa!! 👏

I've just seen that Nico Conforti is competing in junior men at Glacier Falls. Has he dropped pairs already, or is he trying to do both?

Wow!! Our Canadian Ladies did so well last night.

At Glacier, Maddie Schizas leads after SP with 64.41. Just a small mistake on the 3Lo and a F on her last spin. This Black Swan program is a good fit for her.
Bonus: Amy Yang is 3rd. 20 skaters overall.
Just an excellent result for these two.

Then, at Philadelphia, Gabby Daleman was remarkable. She leads with 63.37 I thought Logan would be her closest competitor. I hope she does okay with her free skate. Her landing a 3F instead of a 3S, earlier this season, gives me hope that she has at least five triples (two 3T, two 3F and a 3S) in her and two 2A’s. 3Lo and 3Lz waiting to be seen. I hope she scores over 166 with this event, If Kaiya or any QUE lady doesn’t step up, she could get the TBD spot. Her interview showed hunger for a third Olympic spot and I’m believing it now.

Good job Canadian Ladies!! Canada going for three gold medals today!! Go Canada 🇨🇦!!!!

Lia/Trentt scored 116.75 in the free skate for 184.70 overall to win 🥇 at Glacier. I was hoping for a 120+ free skate.

However, this is a great score for this early on in the season. Congrats Lia & Trentt!! 👏

Canada has its first title this weekend. Two more to go: Go Gabby and Maddie!! 🇨🇦 😜

Dear Ontario... Alberta is providing a lovely free to view stream via Daily Motion, which I am enjoying watching. It is a shame you are no longer willing to do the same. :(

Also,
Rebecca Laiu, Skate Canada
Marty Haubrich, Skate Canada
Scored 129.25 for a podium spot at Glaciers in Junior Pairs. They just missed the domestic benchmark of 130.
Canada has so many JGP spots in Pairs. I was hoping this team would be assigned to one with a 130+ performance here. But, they just missed 😩

Marty is too old to compete as a Junior internationally, even with raising the age, they don't have to worry about missing the benchmark ;)

That is what I thought. But, he competed here in Juniors so I thought maybe he was still eligible. Ok. Then, never mind 🫣

Well, we are 2/2. 🥇 🇨🇦
Gabby won gold at Philadelphia with a 106.18 free skate to win with 169.55.

Her lutz is kind of back. She landed it in the first half, but, not in the second half. She popped her loop and her first toe in the triple triple combo, which she attempted in the second half.

Still, she is now our ninth Canadian lady to surpass the 166 benchmark over the past year. Hopefully, she gets a Challenger assignment now.

The good - her PCS score is what got her gold
The bad - a 49 TES score is quite low. She is going to need to do better, to get the TBD spot.

Did the comp count for tech minimums?
