2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

From the results at Cranberry, the following skaters earned the minimums for Junior Worlds:

Women
Hannah Quinn
Camila Volkova

Men
Edward Vasii

Also quad attempts from Vasii and Bondar. Vasii's 4S was called rotated, Bondar did get a < on his 4T. They're getting there with the quads 💪

JGP Bangkok entries, which will have the largest Canadian contingent this season:

Men
Anthony Paradis

Women
Victoria Barakhtina

Pairs (!)
Callahan/Furman
Cheung/Lee
Desrochers/Thrasher

Ice Dance
Anderson/Dawson
Carandiuc/Carandiuc
Ah, this will be a treat for me. All of these skaters/teams are ones I am very fond of, or ones I think I could grow very fond of very quickly.

Well.. I gotta be honest here. Not feeling Roman's FS.. I am glad that he is getting consistent with the jumps but his program is very almost.. delayed and slow moving and kind of empty. He really needs to add a ton of coreo, speed and substance to that free skate. I will also say not a fan of the music either. Not in an olympic year. I feel nearly the same about Stephen's program too. I really liked Anthony's FS. As for pure program I think he out does both Roman and Stephen but obviously the technical aspect will really effect Anthony still. Nice to see he attempted a 3A in the FS though.

Assignments are now confirmed on the Skate Canada International Assignments page with the exception of Callahan/Furman and Cheung/Lee. Entries were due before Callahan/Furman competed at CQE this past weekend (they were much stronger than at NextGen.) Cheung/Lee are competing this weekend at BC SummerSkate.

It could be an error, after all there is interesting math on the International Medal Count page (0 + 0 + 0 = 5 apparently.)

Edit: I'll add in what they use for being named for a JGP:

OFFICIALLY NAMED TO A JR GRAND PRIX
Skaters/teams are officially named to a Jr Grand Prix once they have received and accepted the official invitation from Skate Canada. Once accepted, their name will appear on the Skate Canada website.

NAMED TO A JR GRAND PRIX ON ISU WEBSITE BUT NOT SKATE CANADA WEBSITE
In some rare instances, a skater’s name may appear on the ISU website as entered in a Jr Grand Prix but are not listed on the Skate Canada website. In this case, the skater has yet to receive an official invitation from Skate Canada and is still being considered for a Jr Grand Prix along with other skaters. This process will be used when Skate Canada needs to reserve the place for an entry. Failure to provide an entry to the ISU by the deadline will result in Skate Canada losing the entry spot which could go to another country

HAHA :) Well, they corrected half of their typos here

ISU Junior Grand Prix – Latvia 2025

August 20-23, 2025
Riga, Lativa

Excellent news indeed! Hopefully, she does well on that ice. Iirc it wasn't the best last year.
well, the ice will be the same for everyone... just happy she's now officially skating internationally so there are no unresolved issues with releases nor Skate Canada
