Tired? Maybe they should not have done PolandI have no idea what was wrong with Deanna and Max this week, it looked like they totally lost their confidence. That was hard to watch.

That's a factor for sure. They originally didn't pick Finlandia for their second GP because it was too close to the final, and then they went and did Warsaw Cup which took place at the same time as Finlandia...I also read Max was sick before Warsaw, she was sick in Warsaw and then they were both sick. They definitely need rest.Tired? Maybe they should not have done Poland
Everyone is sick in Montreal right now. It is hell. I see it with my own crowd...there is not a single day that goes on without one of my coachings being canceled because someone is sick. I have been sick as well. It's the worst season in a while. That's a factor for sure. It was. I don't understand this either. They can do so much better!I have no idea what was wrong with Deanna and Max this week, it looked like they totally lost their confidence. That was hard to watch.
I hope they can regroup for Nationals and Milan. It was. I don't understand this either. They can do so much better!

They are getting sick a lot. But they're are also older... And as one of these no longer thirty year old folks, a simple virus takes longer to healYeah, I think it’s all getting to them. Pressure of upcoming Olympics, lack of momentum, and seeing so many other teams have caught up to them is probably eating at them
They kinda arrived on the scene and had s lot of success when there was a void of top teams in pairs… and in the last couple years four more teams have caught up, or some even passed them
Gonna be a great competition it Milan, but stressful if you’re cheering for any one team
Is it just me, or do they seem to get sick a lot?
When my partner was in medical school, a generation ago, he wrote a paper on "Contagion Among Close-Contact Athletes". We'd noticed just anecdotally that we never caught anything from each other but among other pairs we'd trained or competed with, some were like us while some caught everything from each other. He also included rugby teams he'd played on, where if a flu epidemic felled half the team, it was always going to be the same group of players while others were immune. His theory involved compatible/incompatible immune systems, but I don't remember now which way around it worked. Maybe Deanna and Max are the kind who toss viruses back and forth between themYeah, I think it’s all getting to them. Piper & Paul do not have coaches with political clout. Plus, as Mark Hanretty fairly commented in comparing P&P with Lilah & Lewis, P&P have better skating skills (and I would add creativity/ ingenuity over a long, amazing, and influential career), while Li/Lew despite not having the best skating skills, they are known to be "entertaining crowd favorites." And, as we know, they also train at I.AM, a coaching academy that possesses political skill and influence. It's kinda sad when Li/Lew get a standing ovation for skating to Spice Girls, without the audience being able to discern which team are actually the best at ice dancing! Another example: Allison & Saul, are an extremely entertaining team who do a lot of 'vibing,' as one knowledgable podcast host described their style. Allison & Saul, while looking fit & prepared with better programs that suit their style this season, clearly lack top-notch ice dance skating skills. So what is happening with the CANs at the GPF. None of them are living up to their potential. Yes Piper and Paul are in 3rd as expected but they should be closer to the top two, but instead are only a wee bit ahead of the Brits.
Age is also a factor and a reality for Deanna & Max. They have openly noted in the past that they are careful how they pace themselves with training. Obviously age and injury, along with paced training demands will make it difficult for skating athletes to perfectly perform body-pounding jumps with great ease. That is what Deanna & Max face. They understand their training requirements and their optimal physical health needs. I think they absolutely are doing their best to be prepared for competition under circumstances they may be facing of which we are not fully aware as fans.... And if Deanna and Max keep skating like they have here they may be hard pressed to stay in the top 10. They even got the lowest PCS.

there aren't enough candles for the finals .... sigh...I’ve just caught up with the GP finals.
The Canadians have me in tears
We just have athletes in Pairs/Ice Dance
Pairs - This was the worst result for Deanna and Maxime. I was hoping they would finish 4th with a 210+ skate. The problem they have is that they are too shaky on all the elements and this was clear from watching the other teams.
I’m lighting candlesYohnathan and Ava can win a medal tonight. Ava had a weird fall on the 2A. Else, they’d be in first place. So, the judges really like them. Also, I hope our remains two teams have good free skates.
Dance - Our Junior team
P&P: I prefer LaLa and wish LaLa were being pushed instead. But, P&P were the one team I was confident would win an Olympic medal. After the RD, I have a feeling the judges are going to elevate the British team over them. Lighting another candlefor P&P for tonight
definitelyAlso, I just saw the Golden Spin results and I’m furious we didn’t send anybody to this competition.
Roman/Stephen could have won with 240+ skates!!!
SMD could have placed 1st after the SP if she skated the same skate as in Warsaw!!
I know the above three were already given two challengers, but, they could have built momentum at this event.
In Pairs, they should have sent Kelly Ann and Loucas. I don’t believe they had any challenger events.
In Dance, should I even bother…..
I have to watch same athlete from other countries compete again and again… but, miss that our Canadians could really shine at this event
