2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Or American track and field athletes...... oyyyy....
Or pretty much any and every rugby player ever.

Hey, they can't all be masters of ice and eloquence and given some of the ways skaters have jammed both feet with skates still on in their mouths over the years, Stephen is probably wise to stick to harmless repetition.

Only a couple more days to make the call for SD/D.

Part of me wants to say let them go and be considered Olympians.

At this point they likely haven’t even trained in over a week.

Does these great skates for GoGo put him in the running to make the top 10 or maybe even higher. Is it even possible with his great short that he could be skating in the final group for the free? Too bad the judges are still not sure of him enough to give him better GOE and PCS. But if he keeps skating like this that will come.

He will in the second group, out of five groups.

I think I found the interview with Gogolev people were talking about. I didn't think it was that bad, though he did manage to be repetitious in a very short amount of time. (watch to the end to hear him answer some questions)

That is geoblocked for me, so I am not sure whether it is the same interview as the one I saw yesterday. From your description, I am wondering whether Discovery+ only showed part of the interview. The one I saw from him today was much better. I do still think he would benefit from some PR coaching, though, to help him feel more comfortable in the spotlight.

The interview portion of the video was super-short. Do you have a link to any of the interviews you saw? Though they may be geo-blocked for me.

It was on Discovery+ which is a subscription online TV service in the UK. You would need to pay, and then would probably find you were geoblocked even with a VPN.

I don't know, I like some authenticity. May be uncomfortable... but all too often all we get from skaters is the PR speak Skate Canada hammers into them

I think there are a lot of positives to take from this Olympics.

Men

92.99 (SP)
171.93 (FP)
Total: 264.92

This puts GoGo comfortably as a top ten contender at both the Olympics and Worlds. It is great to have a guy who can land two different quads and the 3A.

We also have Roman as a 11th-15th guy as back up.

Also, in juniors. Grayson scoring 210+ at recent international junior event also puts him in contention for a top ten spot for Junior Worlds.

Great job and improvements by our men this season.

Women

Our weakest category now.

64.97 (SP) - should have been higher
125.00 (FP)
Total: 189.97

Maddie skated her best score so far this season. She is so close to 190.

Plus, Gabby is back and we have a SMD who learned a 3A this season.

Three women over 180, compared to two from last season. Our women’s field git better too this season.

Also, in Juniors, I don’t expect much at Junior Worlds with Megan.

But, our top 3 junior girls are waiting for next season:

Lia (Novice - too young)
Minsol (Nationality change)
Victoria (couldn’t compete due to paperwork)

At least our weakest category has the strongest up and coming athletes to challenge the above mentioned trio and move Canada upwards

Pairs
66.08 (SP)
134.42 (FP)
Total: 200.50

This is the first time Lia & Trentt scored over 200. Plus, they have room for improvement in both the SP and FP. They proved to be top ten contenders.
I hope Deanne and Max are able to compete at the Olympics.

Plus, Kelly Ann and Loucas were terrific at 4CC (5th)
The teams minus Deanna and Max, have improved.

Also, we are contenders for a medal at Junior Worlds with our three JGP junior final teams. 👏

Dance

85.79
(SB) - P&P
120.90 (SB) - LaLa

P&P - we all know they were robbed. But, they will fight tooth and nail fir that bronze spot. They also got SB in RD. LaLa, our future also improved and I hope proved they are worthy of a top 8 spot. I suspect the second USA and FRA team will beat them.
