2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

I’m happy of course for Fee Ann 😍

Sad for Megan and David/Anthony
I guess they went with JGP performances where Grayson and Viktoria shined…. Sigh…..
If they were going by JGP over Nationals, it should have been Anderson/Dawson over Homick/Buelow. They had the stronger results internationally, so I would prefer it to be consistent if they're going by international results.

Sensible choice for the Women and expected choice for the pairs.

I thought they might go with David Bondar due to his results at Challenge and Nationals, but Grayson has the higher scoring potential and better international results and the boys aren't really at risk of not making the Free like the girls are.

Dance hurts me a little - Homick / Buelow outscored Anderson / Dawson domestically, but internationally, A/D have scored significantly better, and I've come to not trust Canadian Ice Dance scoring (especially in terms of levels) to correspond particularly well to international scoring.

If you want to hear Kurt Browning comments, it's on TV.

However, it may also be available on the CBC website (no promise here).

What you are seeing with Ted is the live-streaming. It's available on the CBC website as well as on Dailymotion.
Yes. On the CBC streaming schedule page they show both the streaming and the streaming access to the broadcast TV content. The shortened, edited, Kurt Browning versions are usually identified in some way. Their times may even overlap the real-time versions.

Grayson is the chosen one. I hope he shines as brightly as Skate Canada sees him. I like his skating better than David B but David B has the big jumps. So I was hoping David B would get the nod.

For women, I am okay with Victoria. She's earned it. She hasn't almost put a foot wrong at both her JGP and at Nationals.

Pairs were easy picks.

Dance, this is a case where we needed three spots.

I support Summer and Nick. They are great. However Charlie and Cayden did better on the circuit this year so it's strange. I hope it will mean 3 spots for next year or else Skate Canada may regret this.

Nationals were great and I'm glad I went. They didn't search bags at all! We saw people with bento boxes, supermarket pie slices and Tim Horton's cups. We went next door to where the practice rinks are to get hot drinks and brought them back, no problem. It was faster (and better) to go next door as the food lines in the arena were atrocious.

I understand Grayson over David B. If David was solid on his quad, he might have gotten it but the international judges don't reward him much for PCS. Grayson on the other hand also medaled in a senior B (Graz - Bronze) and has a pretty good junior score as well (221). He presents beautifully and when the jumps are landed, they are really rewarded. But both at Challenge and Cdns he doubled the loop. I trust his coach to sort that mistake - less costly in Juniors but still costly. He could make the top 10. David should but it is a bit more uphill for him. Also, Anthony is wonderful but I would be more comfortable if he can up his technical score. He also has too many stumbles in his step sequences - that can negatively impact his PCS which he relies on to be competitive.

I understand Victoria over Megan. Megan is still in recovery mode and that triple lutz-triple toe needs to be solid to make the free skate cut at Jr. worlds. She has just competed with it once domestically this year and not internationally so there is doubt. Also, Megan will likely be senior next year and I think she will improve a lot this summer if she stays healthy. She has the scores for Senior Bs. So her future is bright IMO. Victoria did two nice programmes at Cdns - much better than at Challenge. But not sure how much tolerance there will be for under-rotations in the short at worlds. I think she really needs another international before Worlds to give her more confidence internationally - along with the rest of the team except maybe Ava and Yohnatan who have 4CC.

I do prefer Charlie/Cayden over Summer/Nic (only slightly) but CC did themselves no favours with the free skate mess-up and not great levels in the dance steps in the rhythm dance, and SN seem to be more solid that way. Hoping that SN can convince the international judges as well. Life is never 100% fair. Yes, we need three positions.

As I am :scratch2::devil:. I've seen the same messy result on the lower level competitions in past years, but this is the first time I've seen Daily Motion used at the national championships level. I hope CBC will stop there and use "real TV" for worlds and the Olympics.
Your Nationals have been on Dailymotion the past few years? I honestly think the coverage for your Nationals is one the the best around.

It is the best for Canadians and non Canadians. Not only for the Nationals which is the last stage but also qualifying events like challenge and sectionals ( except Ontario who is now charging money for their sectionals)

And whatever the transmission problem had been, the scrambled-egg blurring didn't occur during the Free Dance :jump3:

I've been watching Canadian Nationals on Dailymotion for years now (and some other competitions as well) and in my own time as they take place in a very different time zone. Wherever in Canada. I agree with FlossieH.

Did Keegan get 4CCs? Obviously no Olympics. 😢😢😢😢. He says he missed the fans and didn’t come back for a spot so maybe he will keep going 🙏🙏🙏

I doubt it very much. He said he wouldn't go to Worlds if offered, just 4CC (but he wasn't selected). He said he has a mortgage and a family to take care of. So I think he's done.

The comeback wasn't a bad idea at all considering where it got him with his skating. The bad idea was coming back way too late. I feel that with a couple more months, he would have been a different skater.

But with so many good skates in both the men and women I hope SC sends more skaters out to get their mins. Especially since next year is the start of a new cycle and no telling who will stay and who might retire. Megan finished 4th and Lulu 5th in the ladies but I believe neither got to do 4CC because they do not have the mins.

I hope not. I mean Jason does ice shows and competes. I don’t know what other income Keegan has and it’s not my business of course.
