2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

After 4CC, it is clear who the first alternates for Worlds will be.

Men: Romsky
Women: Gabby
Pairs: K&L
Dance: P&A

Also, it just double confirmed that who we sent to the Olympics is the right team, with our strongest skaters. The above would place in the teens at Olympics & Worlds.

if it's unfair for Maddie imagine how Fabbri Ayer must feel. Marie-Jade and Romain have never even performed their new RD in competition and used the Prince one they knew they definitely couldn't use in order to qualify. I am not blaming them for doing that. It's am just saying that Maddie is certainly not the only nor worst example of using a program to qualify that may or may not be reused at the games.
Agree. But I feel less invested because Lauriault/DeGac are so unlikely to participate in the team event. Given how important the SP is in the team event, I wonder if Skate Canada coughed up some money for the Lion King rights.

But in some ways it's worse in dance, where they can't just go back to a well-loved older RD.

I think they did.

exactly... and though I love the team event.. for the skaters, the main goal is to just get there. Fabbri and Ayer had the edge last year and probably hoped to get to the Olympics and now cannot go. My calming factor about this is that Marie-Jade and Romain won with a bigger margin in the FD. but then, if their RD is not good at the games, they may not advance. So yeah..

I think Vladimir is not really going back to singles. He didn't have the jumps to move up to seniors really. Practicing jumps is one thing, taking up singles again is another thing. When Étienne was partnerless, he posted a lot of videos of him doing all the jumps up to triple flip.

I think Beau needs a very special partner. She was such a star when she was a couple years younger but now, she is growing and evolving as a different skater than she was back then. I don't think Charly would be a good match anyway for her. Of course, he is paired with Nina Ouellette for now, but we don't know if that will work out. Bryan Pierro is supposed to be paired with Giselle Graves but we still haven't seen any of that partnership on the competitive. ice.

Finally, I don't think that Beau will relocate. She skates at EPJM and it just seems to me that she wouldn't make the move to Ontario. So at this point, I do not see any Quebec man available to skate with her at the level she would like. Vladimir was a providential save for her this year. It's too bad it didn't work out longer.

I was thinking that David S weren't a good match for Beau style wise but I am changing my mind. It may be a good thing for her to have a partner like him, but he would need to move to Québec.

I do not see Hetty taking up pairs ever.... I am not sure why people are on this train. I bet a F@*& Canadian Wolf Bird coin that Hetty will not do pairs :)

I think that those were already the alternates anyway.

IMO David S should relocate but to central Ontario away from Gloucester but not sure what saying "not willing to relocate" actually means. Away from his rink, his town or province or country? E.g., Perhaps he is doing post-secondary classes in the Ottawa area and so must stay close. I hope not only that he finds a good partner (with really good skating skills and ability to match his lines, and ideally more than two triples) but that he has a good coach to teach pairs. Hopefully all will be revealed soon.

Don't know Vladimir at all but maybe he just didn't like pairs.

I know there's Marie Hamelin in the Ottawa area for coaches. She has Dion/Cote, along with Northway/Armstrong in pre-novice.

I agree with you about Vladimir. It could be that he tried pairs and realized it wasn't for him.

For someone who maybe doesn't like pairs, he did extremely well to lean throws, lifts and twist.... and other partnering requirements. So Kudos to Vladimir. Indeed, it's possible that he doesn't see his life in pairs.

However, Vladimir is already 18, and turning 19 in June so if he doesn't do pairs anymore, he has to move up to seniors. I don't recall him having a stable and full set of triple jumps. He may end up having a hard time to qualify for Nationals/Challenge as a single skater... and of course, he could remain junior for quite a while as a pair skater. So it's a tough call.

I agree that sometimes, it looks more logical from our side of things but then, it's really up to those putting the hours on the ice to decide what's worth their time, money and effort.
Look at Bruce Waddell. We all want him to go back to dance... He couldn't care less about what we want for him :)

Good job Vlad!!
Better to give it a try in Pairs than to get lost in the domestic shuffle

I don’t enjoy seeing Bruce Waddell in singles, because I get so mad knowing he should be in Dance.

🙏 for David S to have picked up a good partner.

Beau skates at Académie Performance Isatis, not EPJM. Same ice with Vladimir. Maybe she will relocate. 🤷‍♂️

Well. I recall seeing her name next to EPJM school, which is located in the town of Sainte-Julie, not that far from Boucherville where her club is from, very close to St-Amable, which is listed as her hometown, and not that far from Chambly where Académie Performance Isatis. So it's quite possible that some of the training happens in various places. In any case, it's all on the South Shore of Montreal.

ETA : API has the "sport-études" program. So it is quite possible that it is also part of the equation for younger skaters. But of course, they have listed the API staff as coaches and Choreos... So maybe it is just my imagination that linked Beau to Julie Marcotte.

What I can add too : when Beau trained with Christophe Roch, I saw Maxime coaching them too. So I am guessing here that it's just a small world where a lot of people are getting involved :)

For instance, Kelly Ann and Loucas are with Yvan Desjardins but sometimes train with Maxime and Deanna. This is something that was mentioned by a commentator (I believe KMT) during Nationals. So where is that happening ? :) Who's coaching. Or are they just sharing ice ?

I don't know.

Thank you for all the thoughts I have now in my head LOL... Considering Beau is in high school, within the Quebec system, I doubt she would relocate. That would be my final answer :)

Quick update. I know everyone is focusing on the upcoming Olympics.

Grayson won the junior event at Bavarian. He skated quite well there. A popped flip. Score at 210.88 is quite good and puts him in a dark horse position for a top ten finish at Junior Worlds.

Also, Megan skated. She finished 6th out of 27 skaters. Her score was in the 140s. I think this confirms Victoria is the correct skater to send to Junior Worlds now.

and pairs had their SP (juniors)

I don't know what happened to Jazzy and Kiki's PCS as they are usually very strong there... but they weren't even the top leading Canadian team with PCS . Let's see how things go for the LP
