2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

I have been taking Georgia more seriously since Euros. They have the potential to play spoiler for both you and Italy in the team event.
they do. but will Nika and Nastya deliver ? They are kind of hit and miss.

Their pairs are strong. Their dance is steady.. but their singles can be anywhere.

So yeah... I don't think think that Canada will win a team medal but I don't know for sure that Georgia will be the ones in 3rd place when all is done :) Italy, Georgia and Canada have one thing in common : unsteady single skaters.

Robert Brodie interviews Carol Lane, including this part about the Team Event:
So potentially, Gilles and Poirier might have to compete three times in four days — although that’s not set in stone. A lot will depend on whether Canada is in medal contention after all the short programs/rhythm dances are skated.

“We have a plan in place for if they do both parts, and if they don’t do both parts, but that’s not a decision that that has to be made right now, and so we haven’t made it,” said Lane. “It depends on a lot of things, how everybody skates in the team (event), then how it’s sort of shaping up. Are we in medal contention, are we not in medal contention? These are all sorts of facts that play into that.”

Here is the full set of predictions for the Olympics for Canadian athletes.

They predict the bronze for Piper and Paul, no team medal and no medal in pairs either.

Unfortunately, the pairs duo of Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps is projected to miss the podium. They won Canada's first figure skating world title in six years back in 2024 in Montreal but have been up and down since then. The model gives them about a 40 per cent shot at a medal, though, so there's definitely still hope.

😳😳😳 40 percent 😳😳😳
I will take those odds….

yeah...it could be worse. It will come to how everyone performs when it counts.

Layla and Alexander kept really close to the first place in the FD. It's encouraging. It looks like Summer and Nick both fell during their lift which explains the lower ranking for them in the FD. Better make the mistakes now rather than at Junior worlds.

For those who may not be totally engaged in following the Olympics (I will spare you my thoughts on that competition), this week is the Skate Canada Trophy where we can see up and coming novice and pre-novice youngsters competing for the podium. I admit, I don't know many of them - all the more exciting since there will likely be some lovely surprises. Hope everybody has their best skates.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Nova Scotia baby pairs, I liked seeing them last year and they're getting a home Trophy.

Elizabeth Hansen, a US junior pair skater, posted a story from the airport in Montreal. 🤔

So sorry to hear that. It must be such a disappointment to them. Lia and Trentt are worthy replacements this season.
At what point can Kelly Ann and Loucas come in to replace in the individual event (if Deanna must withdraw) or is it already too late for that?

As long as they're listed as alternates, I think they have until the day of the Pairs event starting
