UtaMasa great as expected 
Though Masaya tripped a bit on his 2nd twizzle and only got level 3, still good GOE though

And they are both very aesthetically pleasing, which I think is a factor in getting better scores in ice dance (unfortunately).

Ikura Kushida: "I was more nervous about the singles, but I really enjoyed the rhythm dance. I only got about four and a half hours of sleep. I have some time today, so I'd like to take it easy and get back into shape."
Koshiro Shimada: "This match really made me realize that (the Golden Spin) is not easy. I was very nervous, but I think we were able to give it our all in a variety of new situations, so I'm going to go into All Japan with confidence."

Can anyone knowledgeable please explain why RikaShin only got the base level for their Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence?

Can anyone knowledgeable please explain why RikaShin only got the base level for their Pattern Dance Type Step Sequence?
Disclaimer: I am not a skater, just an avid skating/ice dance spectator who, in an effort to understand ice dance scoring (as far as that is possible
), has learned to identify turns and steps in real time. I do not claim to be an expert or to pick up on every little detail, and I am always eager to hear/read analyses by skaters/people more knowledgable than me and learn something new.With that said, I just rewatched their PSt in slow-mo and this is how it looks to me:
- Shingo entered the RBI to RFI counter on a flat edge (the exit edge looked good to me).
- His bracket looked flat on both, the RBO and the RFI edge (this is the turn skaters/ice dancers seem to be struggling most frequently with).
- It was hard to see Rika’s RBI entry edge into the rocker due to the camera angle. But it seems that her edge might have flatened right before the turn. Her RFI exit edge looked good to me.
- Rika’s mohawk/c-step looked flat on both edges (LFO to RBO).
Just watched Kushida / Shimada. Wow! Fun team! Hard to believe they've only been together a short time.
