I promise that I will shut up about names but I just remembered something and I have to get it out of my chest: I once read a Korean romance novel set in a vaguely European country and the male lead's name was Metternich. I managed to go through the book but I just could not take the angsty bits seriously when the male lead was literally named Metternich

If it was Ruritanian it probably fits

In Italian, we have very few and rare gender neutral names, such as Fiore or Celeste (mostly used as feminine).

and Frédérique but often, the men, same with Dominique, use the "c" spelling, Dominic, Frédéric.

With the loop being a mandatory solo jump means that Arina has to put the combo on an unstable lutz or Flip. Unless they have finally managed to stabilize those 2 jump for her, I see her struggling with short this season.

For the 4th season in a row I'll say that Arina has so much potential but the way Butsaeva staff have handled her jump progression is very questionable and its hindering her as eve with multiple ultra c jumps she still needs a stable lutz and flip to compete for top placements.

Chinese girl's program is too obvious copy of Kami's Bolero.

But she delivered despite the opening fall.

Bolero is not the music I would have picked for her but still a good skate. She got that combo out nicely after the loop fall. Her spins are pretty. Can't wait for her free!

My trick to estimating what a Japanese Junior will possibly score in an international event (for a clean or clean-ish skate)
Their average domestic SP score +5 points, their average FS score +10~15

Oh no, she fell She was visibly nervous at the begging, skating much slower than usually but she got it together later. Loved the step sequence.

Shiqi has fantastic personality and presence as a performer. Nice little toe turn at the start, in time with the music. Lots of height and speed on the rippon 3Lo. Nice 3z‑3T‑falling leaf. She looks fast. I liked the side lunge with head roll, step sequence and costume giving shades of Kamila, actually ‑ the leg in attitude seems familiar. Lovely to watch!

What screws me over is when a name is clearly masculine in French but feminine in English like Patrice.

Shiqi is just not a skater who thrives under pressure. She's literally not fallen on a jump at a single domestic competition this far (she's competed a lot already this season). She's such a performer and her spins are really nice.
