2025 Skate America: General Info and Pregame Chat

Is there anyone planning to drive to Lake Placid? I haven't driven in upper New York State and am not sure about the road condition. I'd appreciate it if anyone can share some of your experiences or suggestions! Thank you!!

I have. As long as it is not snowing, it was not a problem.

Emily Chan/Spencer Akira Howe USA have replaced Audrey Shin/Balasz Nagy for the host spot.

I hope it's by Shin/Nagy's choice and not a last minute decision to change the host spot since that is not fair to either team.

S&N made their TES requirement at Ice Challenge, so they don't need the Skam spot.

It isn't about needing the spot to make CTES. It's about how it was left TBD to the last minute, they were confirmed on the USFS website and now it's been changed to Chan/Howe after they were confirmed.

Host spots were supposed to be submitted September 15. All the federations had the same deadline. They were used as a placeholder and removed from the alternates list. Chan/Howe were left waiting until the week before to get the assignment. It should not have been done this way if that's how USFS was doing it. It is not fair to either team.

Earlier today, I was going to say something about how I was still not 100% convinced that they were going to be there, and then seeing that video made me rethink not trusting my gut. Why put that out there as promo if you know a switch is imminent?

Agreed! It's a longish ride off the Thruway, but the road is good. Snow is another story. Keep your eye on the weather.

She had a really nice one in 2015 SD that looked beautiful and did not impede her movement.
Took me awhile to find a copy of it.

Madison's long skirt does seem like she's tempting fate. Remembering their problem at the 2018 Olympics and their hiccups with the sheet in their show program, it'd be wise to shorten that skirt by a healthy few inches.

For some reason I feel the competition was stronger at earlier events. Interestng decisions by the American Federation. Liu should win easily. The Japanese, Chock and Bates and Mikail should win their categories. I am curious to see what happens for the other medals.

I am hoping she switches the skirt off of this dress to make it easier.
