The 2025 Texas Trophy will be hosted by the Dalla FSC and will be held Sep 30 - Oct 4, 2025, in Plano, TX. This year’s event will be a NQS (National Qualifying Series) event for the singles discipline.

This event will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, and/or current Compete USA handbook as well as any pertinent updates that have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

The traditional U.S. Figure Skating Qualifying Structure is in place for athletes who want to compete at the United States Figure Skating Championships in singles, pairs, ice dance, synchronized, collegiate and adults. Singles, pairs and ice dance athletes who are juvenile, intermediate or novice compete to earn a spot on the National High Performance Development Team.

This is the only comp in Texas on these dates so fingers crossed. I’m ready to beg, borrow and steal money to make the trip!

I have the times but not the names. Confirmed no stream with my friend who is a Club member.

Only two more weeks though till Keegan's first comp back! Hopefully your friend or someone else will film it.

Oh no no no. I will be there. I don’t care if I have to beg, borrow or steal. I don’t care if I have to walk. I don’t care if I have to sleep outside the arena. I will be there with Canadian flags screaming his name.

Hitchhiking is also an option. Though not my preferred one.

And yall know i will film it!

I lost my car keys. After paying $250 to get new keys made (after searching the house for 2 days to try to find either my regular or spare set) i still don’t know if he’s competing. I’m to leave Monday morning but i’m not going if he’s not skating. I know a member of Dallas FSC but she doesn’t know. I’ve reached out to his social media (i don’t even know if he runs his own). I’m sitting here bawling. No idea what to do now.

Email Skate Canada. A friend of mine did this once and got a prompt, courteous response. Good luck, and don’t cry!

It really stinks that small tournaments like this don't put out their entry lists at least a week early. I had that same thing happen to me a couple of years ago where I wanted to see a small tournament (Kings Cup) in LA, but the entry lists didn't come out until the day before or the first day of the competition. I decided not to go before the entries came out, but as it turned out, there was a Taiwanese skater competing that I had really wanted to see... :palmf:

In my opinion, I don't think there's any other tournaments in Texas Keegan could show up at. My advice would be to go...but have a backup plan ready (or be ready to appreciate unknown skaters) in the off chance that he doesn't show up.

Edit: I found some wheelchair-friendly tourist destinations in Dallas that could be a good jumping-off point for a backup plan here.

According to the article on the skate canada page, he is at this moment still going to this comp. As long as he still intends to make a comeback he will be there.

... or be ready to appreciate unknown skaters ...

I hope things work out for @moonvine to watch her big favorite.

Because she also is good at appreciating "unknowns", I will mention that Alex Liu is an enjoyable skater, as well as a nice guy.
I suspect that he will compete in Senior Men at Texas Trophy. He trains (and coaches) in the Dallas area.
I am not saying that his scores will be noteworthy (his tech content and consistency are not top-tier), but Alex first caught my eye at 2023 Nats (when he was a junior), and I think his skating is lovely.

ETA (on Oct 12):
My apologies to Alex that I underestimated his scoring potential -- I'm happy that I was wrong!
He earned PBs in SP and FS. Total score of 196.
(Over thirty points higher than his total score at sectionals in Nov 2024.)
Congratulations to Alex!

What was the date of the article?
I don't see anything more recent than August. Thus moonvine's understandable interest (before long-distance travel for her) in whether KM's plan as of weeks ago for Texas still remains up to date.

Thank you for this article from yesterday (Sep 27), which is great.

I see now that it was posted in GoldenSkate's forum for Canadian figure skating:

(I was confused by your original reference to "skate canada page," which sounded to me like the federation's own page skatecanada.ca.)

I hope we’ll get some YouTube videos of the seniors who are there to qualify. And I hope that Keegan will do well enough to get assigned some international competitions this fall. It sounds like a longshot, but would be fun to see.

Yes! YouTube incoming

Oh I’m sorry you missed Kings Cup. I watched the stream. I loved the Carol of the Bells program and of course I always love Sam Mindra.

Thanks for looking those up. Very kind of you
