2026 Canadian Nationals: General Info and Pregame Chat

Shingles is what happens when you get chicken pox as a child. It develops in times of extreme stress, usually when you are older, but not always. If you get treatment right away, things go better. My son had it in his forties.

The surprise is that Trennt had chicken pox as a child.
Rare and complicated, but it can happen. My kids were all vaccinated, but my younger son still got a mild case of chicken pox when, as a teenager, he tried to help a friend move the friend's wheelchair-bound grandparent who had shingles. We were told the lurking chicken pox virus that causes shingles later is stronger than the version given in the vaccine, so he caught it by accidental contact with the grandparent. If you follow that :confused2:. So now as a youngish adult my son gets the shingles vaccine as well as flu and covid etc.

By the way, my project for Deanna and Max is going quite well. I have at this very moment 41 messages of various lengths for them and at least 3 or 4 more will come in as some people promised me they'll write something too 😁 I think I will put the PDF together next Friday and send it to them

Music rights updates:
- Maddie has clearance for the last two Lion King songs in her short for Milan, but not the first.
- Lauriault/Le Gac do not have clearance for Prince if they go to Milan, so Nationals will be the last time for it if they are selected for the Olympics

I had chicken pox as a child pretty bad with swelling above my eye and nose and later developed shingles on my nose and cheek during covid. I was unable to get treatment as almost all doctor's offices were closed and emergency rooms were beyond packed. I ended up working through it masked anyway and it was extremely painful and left me with small scars. I'm sure it developed from the stress of working at that time.

It's curious why it's only an issue at the Olympics.

I imagine it's just cause they are so many eyeballs are on it, I suppose maybe that makes it more profitable to litigate? I don't know, seems strange.

Nice article on Stephen’s skate. I would like to hear more about how Benoit helped him come back from his injuries. Didn’t he have surgery last year?

Deanna’s dress is worth $50,000 plus? Wow. It is beautiful but I would be scared about it being stolen or damaged. But she deserves it.

What I read is just that Benoit helped him with performance... Maybe I've .missed something ?

Had both chicken pox and measles as a kid which is a bad memory. Vaccines were a blessing. Difficult getting vaccinated here now😷 and it’s the children who suffer.
:ot: I guess this has travelled off-topic, but I had all the standard illnesses when I was a baby or toddler because my brothers were so much older and brought them home from school to share with their little sister, so the only one I remember is mumps. I hope parents -- those who can afford it -- will still be able to get paid vaccines? Otherwise there will be a lot of dead or disabled children down the line.

Never had mumps 😬. Some States are footing the bill and providing vaccines for those parents that want them for their kids. But not all States are stepping up to the plate. Cannot imagine parents denying preventive care to their kids..
Return to main topic ..
