And after 9 Senior cacti what do we have? Why, it's 9 Senior girls!

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

Right, back to the Interclub part of the event for the rest of the night.

We have an Advanced Novice double-bill to begin with. 11 older girls; followed by 8 boys.

And the girls competition is starting and ending with the Tedersoo twins. Emma at #1, and Loore at #11.

I'm going to be leaving to eat during this girls competition. But, hopefully I will not miss too many of them.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

Aha! Glafira USPENSKA (LAT) is wearing the dress that I think makes her look like a Cylon!

I thought she had a new SP this season. Has she ditched it and gone back to last year's SP? Or am I getting confused?

Whatever the case, she goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

Well, I've got Group 1 watched anyway. Time for food.

Hopefully the stream will get archived, and I can watch Group 2 in the morning before tomorrow's action starts (or even tonight if they get it up quick enough!)

All the best to those that I will miss.

CaroLiza_fan

Typical. I come back, look at the screen, and I see a boy falling!

Ah, it's the first skater doing his first element. So, in effect, all I have missed is Group 2 of the girls.

I just checked the results for the older Advanced Novice girls, and I see that the Tedersoo twins are tied together after the SP. Loore is in 5th position, 1.02 points ahead of Emma in 6th position.

Finally!!! I am going to see twins skating back-to-back!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Or not, now that I look at the start time for the FS. They are going to be skating when I am eating tomorrow night! :bang:

CaroLiza_fan

We finish the opening day with the Intermediate Novice girls. 14 of them, so two groups of 7.

And I may not have to wait until tomorrow to see twins skating back-to-back. I don't know, but it may well be that skaters #12 Grete FRIEDL (AUT) and #13 Luise FRIEDL (AUT) are sisters. And if they are, they might even be twins. They belong to the same club in Vienna, anyway.

In fact, the last three skaters today all belong to Wiener Eissport-Vereinigung, as the competition concludes with Athena EL-HAMALAWI (AUT) at #14.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

Olivija GERASIMOVA (LAT) kicked things off. And when I saw her black dress, I thought "Yay! Spooky programme!!!" But it wasn't. It was something just as good - a "Dirty Diana" programme!!!

That was good.

But then she shocked us all with her finishing position. She did the splits! Although, she did it a bit early, so had to do some armography to fill the time.

CaroLiza_fan

Looks like skater #4 Ceyda PEKER (TUR) has withdrawn.

So straight onto skater #5 Amanda BRANCE (LAT)

You'll not miss her - along with her black top, she's wearing a fluorescent orange skirt and gloves! 🕶️

I take it that Lyndsay HORY (BEL) is a fan of Mone CHIBA (JPN). Not only is she skating to the same music that Mone used for her SP last season, "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, but her dress is not too dissimilar either.

Yes, the Entries / Results page have got her name wrong. Hory is her surname, not her first name.

She was clearly having fun out there.

She goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

The last Estonian skater of the day, Varvara FILJAEVA (EST), had a freak fall in the middle of the programme. And then when she was getting up, she had another.

But other than that, it was beautiful.

Some nice choreography involving Varvara, her coach and a team-mate while waiting for the scores.

She goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

The last Latvian skater, Darina BULAK (LAT), was Malade.

Unfortuantely, it was not a her day.

She went into last position, and was in floods of tears.

:ghug:

Now for the three Austrians. Starting with the Friedls.

CaroLiza_fan

Grete FRIEDL (AUT) was doing a "Pirates Of The Caribbean" programme. 🏴‍☠️ 🦜

I always love programmes to this music. And this was no exception.

I absolutely loved it!!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

She was wearing a white blouse, and a black and red skirt.

Her coach is seeing to Luise, so Grete has got an older team-mate sitting with her.

She goes into 11th and last position.

I'm shocked.

CaroLiza_fan

Well, if Grete and Luise are twins, it is in the same vein as Danny de Vito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Luise is a LOT taller than Grete.

Luise FRIEDL (AUT) was wearing a beautiful sky blue dress and skating to "Experience" by Ludovico Einaudi.

That was beautiful.

Seeing Grete and Luise sitting together, I am nearly sure they are related. But, it doesn't help that Grete is in a bad mood.

Luise goes into 8th position. FOur positions and 6.49 points ahead of Grete.

CaroLiza_fan

The final skater of the day, Athena EL-HAMALAWI (AUT), was wearing a dress which was supposed to look liek a black suit and tie with a white blouse.

She is skating to an orchestra version of "Paint It, Black".

I loved it!!!

Ah, this is the girl that was sitting with Grete FRIEDL earlier.

Luise FRIEDL is sitting with her now, along with their coach.

She goes into 8th position. Just one position and 0.83 points ahead of Luise.

CaroLiza_fan

And that is it for today.

The action resumes tomorrow at the same time as it started today, this time with the younger Advanced Novice girls doing their FS.

See you then.

CaroLiza_fan

Day 2 starts with the return of the younger Advanced Novice girls for their FS. And we complete all the ISU categories, and then return to the Interclub part of the event for the remaining two Advanced Novice competitions.

After yesterday's problems, it looks like the streams are on the same ViSport page for the rest of the event:

https://daugavaopencup.com/stream/index.php

And the good news is that yesterday's ViSport stream has been archived! (Unfortunately the first stream on YouTube has not).

I'll be leaving after Group 1 to watch the F1 Sprint Qualifying (why they insist on having separate qualifying sessions for each race I will never understand!). So, this will be very useful to me!

Hope this helps

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

7 skaters on the ice at the same time is far too many.

At the end of the Warm-Up there was one girl practicing the end of her programme where she kneels on the ice. And beside her another girl was doing a spin. And it may have just been a trick of the camera angle, but it looked like her free leg was going dangerously close to the kneeling girl's head.

I had my heart in my mouth!

And then after that, I thought we were having another drama. The first skater, Carla MONSEN (NOR), came out into the middle of the ice, and then immediately went over to the officials. But it turned out that her starting position was there!

She was wearing a black dress, and "Running Down That Hill" with Kate Bush.

Not a bad start to the day.

CaroLiza_fan

I am afraid that, at the end of the Group 2 Warm-Up, this is where I leave you.

And just my luck, the skater coming on now, #8 Hanna CHEPAIKINA (CHE), has a very interesting costume! :drama:

All the best to those that I will miss.

CaroLiza_fan

We now move to the ISU part of the event, which starts with a Junior FS double-bill. 29 girls, followed by 5 boys.

I'm still watching the Formula 1 (Sprint Qualifying has finished, and the Sky team are currently disecting it. And then they are showing a repeat of Free Practice 1, which was on overnight when I was asleep). But I hope to join you at the start of Group 3.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Perfect timing. I arrived back just as the last skater in Group 2 was getting her scores.
