2026 ISU International Adult Competition - Oberstdorf | May 17-22

Thomas WINTERBERGER (CHE) continues the run of great music we have had since the start of this competition, skating to "Highway To Hell" by AC/DC.

He is wearing a black leather waistcoat, and blue jeans.

That was great too!

He goes into 8th position.

Mmmmm. I'm not sure if I have seen Roland GUNESCH (AUT) before, or if I just think I have because he looks like Pasquale Camerlengo.

He is waring a white shirt with black dickie bow, waistcoat, gloves and trousers.

Again, we got a preview of what he would be skating to. "Forever Young" by Alphaville.

Circus master Massimiliano PITTA (CHE) is with him! Along with 4 ladies.

He goes into 5th position

Where are Piper and Paul?

Eric KASMARA (INA) is skating to "Vincent". Not the original Don McLean version that they skated to, though.

He is wearing a costume that is mostly black, except for the left front of his top, which is blue with sparklies (presumably it is supposed to be a starry starry night).

I was getting all emotional. That was beautiful.

Just two guys sitting with him.

He wins. And rightly so.

Straight onto the next competition. We stay with the Bronze level skaters, but this time it is the class IV Ladies FS. And there are a few more of them. 19 in total.

But, I'll not be commenting as much because it is time to eat.

I just had to pop back over to the computer to comment that as soon as I saw the sole Japanese skater in this competition, Aki OKOCHI (JPN), I knew what the theme of her programme would be.

Yep, yellow dress equals a "La La land" programme. In this case, "Another Day Of Sun".

It was fun.

The signed flag has re-appeared. And a whole pile of team-mates.

She goes into the lead.

Well, I suppose we should be impressed that it took until four hours into the day for Michael Bublé to make his first appearance.

Eugenia Maurizia NATOLI (ITA) was skating to his cover of "Feeling Good".

She was wearing a red dress with black trim.

She goes into 4th position.

Now all we need is Lara Fabian to complete the set...

LEUNG Shuk Bing Dior (HKG) wearing a beautiful pink and blue dress.

She was skating to "Once Upon A December" from "Anastasia". I love that song, and I love people skating to it. Although I loved it this time too, I was so frustrated, because it ended with just four more words of the song left to sing! :drama:

Nevertheless, on the whole, everything about that programme was beautiful.

She goes into the lead.

Tammy LAMA (CAN) wearing a gorgeous dark blue dress with pearl trim.

First time I've ever seen anybody skate to Elton John's "Tiny Dancer". But, it worked so well! I really want to see more people skate to it now.

That said, I didn't like the way the music went into weird re-mix at the end.

But, on the whole, I loved everything about that programme.

Always nice to see a skater that wears glasses.

She goes into 6th position.

Thanks so much for following all of these @CaroLiza_fan. I am interested but just haven't the time at the moment. Your remarks are very welcome.

Awww, thank you.

I'm just sorry that I haven't been commenting on everybody. But, there are rather a lot of skaters, and it is hard to get the comments written quickly enough, especially since you have to be ready for the scores being announced as there is no livescoring to check.

I always enjoy watching this event.

We come back from the resurfacing staying with the Bronze Ladies, but moving to class V. A group of 5 ladies.

I'm confused now, because this group should have been taking us up to the resurfacing. Was there a Zamboni out on the ice before them, or was it just an unscheduled break due to withdrawals? I was away doing things, so I didn't notice.

There is something appropriate about starting the competition for the oldest class of Bronze Level ladies with a programme to "Forever Young".

Thank you Helena VÄÄNÄNEN (FIN).

I wonder if she is related to Milania. Who knows, this might be her grandmother!

Helena and her sizable entourage are delighted with the scores!

Yes, I thought Marcela NOVOTNÁ (CZE)'s name looked familiar. When she came out, I recognised her from previous adult competitions.

She is wearing a red and black dress, and skating to "House Of The Rising Sun" by the Animals.

She is such a flirt!

As well as those that are staying in the results area, there are a whole pile of people coming up and shaking her hand. I wonder if this is her final competition.

She goes into 2nd position.

The final skater, Tuula ILMORINNE (FIN), is skating to Israel Kamakawiwoʻole's cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".

Such a colourful dress! I take it it is supposed to represent the sky, the sea and the beach.

She goes into 5th position.

Wow! She almost jumped up in delight at the scores!

CaroLiza_fan

We continue with the Bronze level skaters, but go from the oldest ladies in the level to the youngest ladies. 25 class I ladies doing their Artistic Free Skate.

CaroLiza_fan

💃 Olè!

We begin with Victoria PARKER (CAN) doing a tango wearing a black dress and red petticoat.

I enjoyed that.

It helps that there was nobody growling at Roxanne.

She's happy with her scores.

From South American music, to Irish music.

Jennifer GRUBER (CHE) was wearing a beautiful green dress, with white pattern on the front, and white illusion mesh above the dress.

My only complaint is the positioning of the cut-out in the illusion mesh in relation to the tattoo on her back. Where it was positioned, half the tattoo was covered, and half was visible. Either have the cut-out positioned so all of the tattoo can be seen, or positioned so none of the tattoo can be seen.

She goes into the lead.

She smiles, and her friends clap.

CaroLiza_fan

Christine RESS (DEU) is wearing a black dress, and skating to "A Million Dreams"

Awww. She has been given a massive koala wearing a blue and pink skirt! 🐨 And judging how much she is cuddling it, she absolutely loves it!

Looks like she and her friends are having a great chat waiting for the scores.

She goes into 3rd position.

She's not keen on the score, but she and the others smile and clap it anyway.

CaroLiza_fan

Yet another black dress, this time worn by Jessica O'HARA (USA). She is skating to "I Lose Control" by Teddy Swims.

Now that I see it close up, I see there is a pattern. I preferred it when I thought it was plain black.

She goes into 4th position.
