2026 Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships

The Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships will be hosted by the Skating Club of Lake Placid and will be held Jul 27-30, 2026, in Lake Placid, NY. This year’s event will be a NQS (National Qualifying Series) event for the ice dance discipline.

This event will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, and/or current Compete USA handbook as well as any pertinent updates that have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

NQS and the NQS Finals serve as one of the qualifying pipelines to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Pattern has been the day before or the morning of. I'm also anticipating.
SO annoying. It’s almost as if they want to discourage attendance by skating fans. I’m sure they have their reasons for keeping the entries confidential, but I’ve just never understood it.

ETA: I’ve just checked back here on Monday night—still no entries? Competition begins tomorrow

I'm surprised to see there are no NQS-track Senior teams this year. Usually there are at least a couple lower-tier Senior American teams competing on the NQS side.

There is bad weather moving into Michigan tonight. It will then hit Buffalo & Lake Placid likely by tomorrow tonight. I hope those traveling get in tonight or early tomorrow before the bad weather arrives.

Last year, only six U.S. teams competed in the NQS senior event at Lake Placid, with Cui/Rogers winning over the recently partnered, Flores/ Jepsen, and Yi/ Savelev, in third.

I think it was already announced that a domestic senior combined NQS would not be held at Lake Placid this year. Perhaps the international portion of the event will qualify for the senior combined NQS.

Hmmmm ... announced by whom?
Maybe I have missed (or forgotten) something, but referenced in the official 2026 NQS competition announcement (p 2):
"Combined Pattern Dance/Rhythm Dance & Free Dance (NQS Juvenile – Senior)"

... Perhaps the international portion of the event will qualify for the senior combined NQS. ...

I am 99% sure that Lake Placid international scores always have counted toward NQS rankings.
Definitely true in most (or all) seasons that also have had Lake Placid domestic scores from other dancers.

In checking the posted time schedules:

The Junior LPIDI starts today at 7pm EST

The senior LPIDI starts tomorrow about 2:30pm EST

Here's a link to Junior Combined Dance entries on the domestic side; no domestic senior combined dance entries (aside from senior solo combined dance):
