2026 Olympics: General Info and Pregame Chat

The amount of times I’ve had to edit my pairs predictions in the last day is crazy😅 praying for everyone else to go injury free

Just to be clear, no one knows who is skating in the team events nor the starting orders as of 1:22 pm PSt Tuesday? Doesnt this seem odd?
No, why? The entries for Women, Dance and Pairs are due at 10 am on Feb 5.

Also, a lot of the info is already out.

WE GOT THE MINIONS PROGRAM BACK!!!!!! Tomas's plight went kind of viral and picked up all sorts of media attention, as it should. Not having the Minions program at the Olympics would have been the worst thing to happen since the 2002 SLC judging scandal. FS Twitter also unionized, crying out loudly to the gods that be (aka Universal, who holds the music copyright) to make this program happen. Tomas posted on Instagram that he has managed to clear two of the four pieces, which were the problem pieces, via a special arrangement with Universal Studios. He's waiting on the other two to clear but it's very likely Minions will be at the Olympics! He said in the mixed zone that he brought his costume just in case, and that has worked out for him! FS fans, look at the power we have. We have brought about the most important change our sport has perhaps ever seen, and saved the amazing Minions program. Continue to speak up! Fight for change! And be grateful that Tomas won't have to do back-to-back BeeGees programs as he was originally planning to do.
Glad for him. It annoys me when this copyright thing comes up. You would think any artist would be glad of the publicity, with their music being used.

Oh no. I wish it was the lady commentator who does Warsaw Cup. I really like her.
Unfortunately, it will be +60 guy who does mostly football :( the lady from Warsaw Cup is Canadian and probably doesn't speak Polish well enough to be hired :(

The thing I find ironic about this whole mess is that Universal Pictures, who made the "Despicable Me" films, is the sister company of NBC, who have the broadcasting rights to the Olympics in America.

So, one part of NBCUniversal is trying to prevent something that would draw in audiences from being shown on another part of NBCUniversal.

You couldn't make it up! :drama:

Just in case you didn't spot it, her daughter, Catherine-Charlotte LAPIERRE (POL), was 9th in Senior Ladies at the Bavarian Open last week.

For the women's individual event, I've put a bet on Liu at 4.00 (+300) and Glenn at 7.00 (+600).

Great odds! Almost like they've mispriced it.

Glad for him. It annoys me when this copyright thing comes up. You would think any artist would be glad of the publicity, with their music being used.
Nope, artists are glad when they get money for their work. Every time a song is broadcasted in radio or played on music apps, artists get the publicity, but also get money for it, mostly through copyright collectives. Different uses have different rates. I didn't go into details of the Minion case, but is seems our beloved ISU messed again...

My national broadcaster has the tiles for all events up and also has the most ignorant commentator hired. This commentator does FS since I was in middle school and still knows nothig. If I'm grumpy during competitions, it's because of him.
Please tell me there is an option to mute comentators. I don't know who that guy is, I don't know any polish-speaking comentators, but now I'm already scared 😬

The thing I find ironic about this whole mess is that Universal Pictures, who made the "Despicable Me" films, is the sister company of NBC, who have the broadcasting rights to the Olympics in America.
