4th Maria Olszewska Memorial | Feb 24 - Mar 1

I just watched the second partnership to go in Juniors, Anna BODRONE / Nicholas Sebastian YING (ITA).

And I have to ask: why has Anna got tin foil wrapped around her chest?

They were good, though.

They go into the lead.

Can it be? Have my kids inspired a Junior partnership?

Madelaine Ann BREAU / Kurtis CHE (CAN) started off with the same music that Emilea and Vadym are using for their Short.

I didn't like it for these two either!

But they followed it with "Groove Is In The Heart" by Deee-Lite. Which I did like.

Madelaine Ann is wearing a plain blue top, and a plain red skirt. Kurtis is wearing a wild T-shirt, and blue trousers.

They go into 2nd poisiton.

Senior Ice Dance starting now.

I'm still playing catch-up. But, I only have 2 partnerships in the Juniors left to watch. So I'll continue playing catch-up.

Partnership #1 Olexandra BORYSOVA / Aaron FREEMAN (POL) are very yellow.

And I only just realised the significance of the song at the start and end. Aaron FREEMAN skating to "Freed From Desire" by Gala.

Or am I reading too much into it?

"Jump Around" by House Of Pain was in the middle.

Gaaaahhhhh!!!! The stream died when they were waiting for their scores!!!

I'm not going to see my kids!!!

I tried to watch Junior and Senior RDs today but the stream was horrible. I managed to watch the first 3 junior couples and half of the fourh one performance. As for Seniors I could only see the final couple. Besides the stream got frozen every now and then. I wonder how you managed to play catch-ups. I tried but failed as the streamd died at every attempt.

Mmmm. Maybe I was just lucky. It mis-behaved for me a couple of times this morning during the Solo Dance. But after I came back from the dentist, I had no problems until the Seniors.

I had the stream open in two windows: one where I was playing catch-up, and one that was playing live as a backup. And both of them died at the same time. So, I wonder if that was the time when the broadcast ended. Because, although this event was streamed on YouTube last year, that is what happened at the end of the broadcasts then.

Anyway, it's disappointing that we weren't able to see all that we wanted to see.

Today was the longest day of the event. So, maybe it'll work out better with the shorter days ahead.

I just refreshed the livescoring page - only three partnerships actually skated in Seniors. The other three were withdrawals (including my kids).

So, that explains everything. The interval between the Juniors and the Seniors was extended by 10 minutes, and then the three partnerships that were left were sent out in one group. And they then finished earlier than scheduled, which would tie in with when the stream died.

Day 2 of the Maria Olszewska Memorial is Free Dance Wednesday. Like yesteday, we start the day with the Solo Dancers, and then finish with the partnerships.

Today was already going to shorter than yesterday, but due to the number of withdrawals, we are both starting later than originally planned, and finishing earlier than originally planned.

Livestream for the Basic Novice Solo Free Dance is now on air.

Here is the link for the livestream:

https://stream.vidata.pl/

Just be aware that, if the stream goes off air for whatever reason, everything up to that point is lost. And the stream stops working as soon as the broadcast ends, regardless of whether you are watching LIVE or playing catch-up.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

I liked that.

The last of the Basic Novice Solo Dancers, proper local girl Alicja MARNIK (POL), was skating to "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars. And during the programme, you could see the three members of her team dancing and clapping along at the boards!

She wins! And they are all delighted!

Onto the Intermediate Novices.

That has to be the most surreal combination of music I have ever heard.

The opening skater in Intermediate Novices, Sara GRECHI (ITA) was skating to a beautiful female cover of "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You", followed by "Cotton Eyed Joe" by Rednex.

Yes, you heard that correctly.

And the change of music was accompanied by a costume change.

To be honest, she needs a lot of polish. But, she has potential.

Ah, the second Italian of the day, Isabella Mariagrazia DELLA TORRE (ITA), brings our second "Aladdin" programme of the day.

Sorry, @elektra blue, your fellow countrywoman was not doing a "Prince Ali" programme especially for you. It was the version of "Arabian Nights" that was used in the live action re-make.

She was wearing a beautiful blue costume. Not the light blue that Princess Jasmine wears, but a much deeper blue.

That was very good.

As well as her coach, Sara GRECHI that skated just before her has joined her.

Isabella goes into the lead of both the FD and overall.

By the way, we will be seeing her former partner, Marco TEDESCO, later on. He is currently 6th out of 6 in Advanced Novices with new partner Vera COIRA.

Well, we can now add to the list of skaters who do programmes inspired by their name.

Alicja KMIECIK (POL) was doing an "Alice In Wonderland" programme. She was dressed as her, and skating to the song "Alice".

She goes into the lead of both FD and overall with just her team-mate to go.

CaroLiza_fan

Kornelia SADLO (POL) was wearing a beautiful black dress, and skating to "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend".

She wins both the FD and overall.

And it is a podium clean sweep for the KS EDGE SA Katowice club because, although Aleksandra BILLEWICZ was 5th in the FD, she finishes in 3rd position overall due to being 3rd in both Pattern Dances.

Onto the Advanced Novices.

Now, we have an interesting situation. Who is going to be deprived of a well deserved medal because of these new stupid rules that have the girls and the boys in the same competition?

Will it be the only international skater in the competition, Daria HOROSHKO (UKR)? Or will it be the only boy in the competition, Milosz REDLICKI (POL)?

Under the old rules, all four participants would be going home with a medal. And Milosz would have a guaranteed 🥇 Gold Medal, rather than fighting over a 🥉 Bronze Medal.

So unfair!

I enjoyed both of them.

Milosz goes into the lead, ahead of Daria.

CaroLiza_fan

Patrycja TACIJ (POL), from the same local club as the winner of the Basic Novice competition earlier, was wearing a beautiful black dress, and skating to Edith Piaf.

That was beautiful!

She goes into the lead.

CaroLiza_fan

Lena IGNACZAK (POL), from the same club as the boy, was wearing a light blue dress, and also singing to a female French singer (I don't know the song, or who sings it).

That was beautiful too.

But, she has a big enough lead from the Pattern Dances that the title was already in the bag. It's just a question of by how much.

The Zamboni is already out, so we can barely hear the announcer.

But, she does win both the FD and overall. The FD by a whisker under 10 points, and overall by a whisker over 17 points.

We come back from the resurfacing for the Adult Dancers. And they are all going out in one group today. So, we have the 3 Solo Dancers, followed by the solitary Ice Dance partnership.

It's strange seeing individual skaters and a partnership on the ice at the same time.

CaroLiza_fan

We start the Adult Solo Dance competition off with Marta HALABURDA (POL), the only entry that doesn't belong to a local club (she belongs to MKS Axel Toruń).

She is wearing a red dress, and skating to very haunting music.

I loved it!!!

She is very happy with her score!

CaroLiza_fan

The first of the two skaters from ZALF Olimpijczyk, Kinga SZWAJKIEWICZ (POL), was wearing a gorgeous light blue dress, and was skating to a female version of "Les Champs-Élysées".

I absolutely loved that.

I'm curious to know what age she is. Because she looks a LOT younger than 28.

She goes into the lead. And is very happy.

CaroLiza_fan

The final skater, Maria KOSIEWICZ (POL), is wearing a beautiful black dress, and skating to Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman's cover of "Something Stupid".

She was very good too!

She wins.

Awww. And she's overcome with emotion.

Now straight onto the partnership.
