Ice dancers Betina Popova (Russian: Бетина Попова) & Yuri Vlasenko (Russian: Юрий Власенко) represent Russia. Popova was born 2 November 1996 in Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai, Russia, while Vlasenko was born on 20 November 1994 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The team split up after the end of the 2015-16 Season. Betina has is skating with Sergei Mozgov. Their fan fest is here:

After years of having low levels and inconsistent technical skaters in junior ice dance, Popova / Vlasenko
are promising. Vlasenko needs to get better edges and polish his skating skills but Popova is a real talent
They were able to challenge the North American skaters technically and won by more than 7 points.
They need a Lift specialist for sure. Their style is reminiscent of classical 80's and early 90's Russian dancers.

Betina&Yuri didn't win at Spain but nevertheless they have made it to the JGPF. They will have a pretty good chance at getting a 2nd JGPF medal, although there will be a lot of very even teams fighting for medals.

They lost the FD too. And that was because of their lower levels in step sequences (both in SD and FD) and twizzles (in SD). Their PCS were still higher than Lauriault/Le Gac's in both programs. Maybe the difference would have been larger if they had skated after the french, but probably not by enough.

I hadn't really noticed these two until this competition (I try to avoid heartbreak by limiting my exposure to junior teams) but I really enjoyed both their SD and their FD! I wil definitely keep an eye out for them next year and at Junior Worlds

No. Yuri turned 21 a few weeks ago and this is their last year. Loboda and Drozd are still eligible though.
