2025 Sonja Henie Trophy is set to take place Mar 6-9, 2025, in Oslo, Norway, at the Sonja Henie Ishall. Skaters in Singles discipline (Women and Men) in the Novice, Junior and Senior categories will compete.

The event will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, and relevant ISU Communications.

Time Schedule
(Local Time, UTC +01:00)

Entries are out: https://www.skoyteforbundet.no/kunstlop/sonja-henie-trophy/entriesresultsstartlist/ - @Jeanie19 here it is!

I tried to copy but it´s a PDF and I just get all the name at once so I don´t think that will work.

Not a bad line up - Lara Naka is coming back to defend the title :love2: She must have liked it last year, i´m wondering if she still will do this competition if she get the Worlds spot - but this year I think the time between is longer. Both the senior ladies and men event is looking better this year. And Nargiz Z, I´m happy to see Emily Saari back.

Notable names in men are Adam Siao Him Fa, is he seriously doing this competition? Very surprising to see him do a small competition like this. I would not be surprised if he ends up WD, he should really rest his ankle. M. Selevko and Maurizio Zandron as well and Andreas Nordeback are doing senior men - so it´s going to be a good fight for the podium.

@CaroLiza_fan - I think you would like the entries - Marilena is going, Anna-Flora and Arabella all in senior ladies! And if I´m not wrong you are a fan of Varvara Abramkina as well, she is doing junior ladies.

Junior ladies field is stacked, there are even skaters from Mexico. And @TT_Fin - I did remember you saying something about Petra Lahti switching fed, she is now representing New Zealand. Is this her first competition for New Zealand?

Thank you for the heads up, @norwegianfairytale.

I don't know if you looked at the Interclub entries as well, but there is an Icelandic girl in Basics with the best surname ever - VIKINGSDÓTTIR!

It's a pity that Jonathan EGYPTSON (SWE) isn't entered as well. That would have been so cool, having the son of Pharaohs and the daughter of vikings at the same event!

Oh boys, but I am hoping there is a free stream. It was on Vimeo last season, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be this season too.

If you want to keep an eye out for possible streams, here is the link to the Norwegian Fed's Vimeo channel:

https://vimeo.com/user146970131

And their YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/@nsfkunstlop

EDIT: Actually, they have a separate YouTube channel that they use for livestreaming:

https://www.youtube.com/@norgesskyteforbundstreamin869

Hope this helps

I have not noticed Petra competing representing NZL before but she is announced to JWC. Of course she had TES so it does not matter if those are earned representing other country?

Hmm I would think TES follows the skater regardless of country.. I´m assuming she is going to represent New Zealand at JWC? I just checked - last international competition for Petra for Finland was actually Nordics last year, so the country quarantine will end around now, so it makes sense she hasn´t competed yet for NZL. I don´t remember the exact date Nordics was last year, but I think it might have been around the same time as this year.

I just had to look at the first published entries, there were 10 senior men, now it´s 17. That is incredible. I don´t know how they managed to add 7 more, but that is great news.

This might actually help recruiting men to figure skating in Norway.

Gaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!

I just realised that the Junior Ladies SP here is on at the same time as the Junior Ladies SP at the Maria Olszewska Memorial in Poland. :bang: :bang: :bang:

So, if we have a free livestream here as well, I am going to have to choose between my Junior daughters from Cyprus! :drama:

Well, in all honestly, if we have a fully functioning free stream in Norway, I will probably go to Poland. Because today's stream from Łódź was set up so that you can't pause or re-wind it.

On the subject of streams, there is still no sign of any of the Norwegian Fed's channels that I linked to. But, I suppose it is maybe a bit early yet as the competitions don't start until Thursday.

One thing I am taking as encouraging is that there is no sign on SolidSport either. And they normally have the event channels set up further in advance.

Well, the first skater in the Basic Novice Ladies FS has completed her programme, and I can't find any sign of a livestream. 😞

It´s probably part of the plan. They usually don´t stream for athletes under 15 years in domestic competitions because of Norwegian rules to protect children in sport. This applies for all sports in Norway and isn´t specific for figure skating and was enforced like 2 years ago. At Norwegian Nationals they just streamed from juniors. I think last year they either started with streaming with juniors or even started with advanced novice. Since interclub part isn´t ISU it may be regulated by Norwegian rules. So if they start streaming when the ISU part starts with advanced novice it´s probably a loophole there because of international competition.

It´s also possible they have gone out to the Norwegian advanced novice skaters under 15 in advantage to get their parents permission to be streamed to solve the streaming issues when the ISU part starts, as i´m guessing the issues is only for Norwegian skaters and not the international skaters.

Very interesting information, @norwegianfairytale . That probably explains everything.

Hopefully they will start streaming tomorrow, then. And we can cross our fingers that it will be free. Because I really want to see Marilena. She has replaced both of her programmes mid-season. I have only seen her new FS once, at the Bosphorus Cup in December. Since then, she has also changed her SP. But, the events she has been competing in since then have all had pay streams, so I haven't seen the new SP yet. And I am really curious to know what it is like. Not least because I really loved her previous SP.

In case anybody is wondering, our Daughter Of Vikings finished 14th out of 47 in Basic Novice Ladies.

Daddy will be proud of her!

So the stream for international viewers will be paid. In fact it's a relief for me as I won't be torn apart between this event and the event in Poland which has a free but unrewindable stream and it makes it a bigger challenge to watch.

Oh that is a pity :( How much is the international stream? It says i´m geoblocked from it so I can´t see the prices.

The good news is that is actually free for Norwegians that already is subscribing to one of 100 digital newspapers. A lot of people already have one subscription to be able to read news behind paywall, so this is actually a very good streaming option for Norwegians that will possibly get some new viewers. That is very clever to raise awareness to figure skating in Norway. Kudos for them to be able to land such a deal for what is just an international senior B event, but with some great names. Seems like they are doing some great job with marketing this event.

From that stand of viewpoint - I think it´s okay that they have a international pay stream and instead focusing on putting the money into Norwegian viewers to get new viewers.

I´m already subscribing so the stream will be free for me.

@CaroLiza_fan - the streams says to start only with junior men tomorrow, so as I suspected the regulations for streaming of athletes under 15 might have something to do with it as they won´t stream novice at all.

Although it means I will miss out on seeing three of my kids, I feel exactly the same. This being a pay stream has made things a lot simpler.

99 SEK per day, or 199 Kr (doesn't specify which) for the whole event.

Curious that the daily price is in Swedish Kroner rather than Norwegian Kroner. Or is that commonplace?

Although it's a shame that international viewers have to pay, I have to agree that this is a good compromise approach. It's actually the same as the Bulgarian Fed have been doing this season - have a free Bulgarian stream and a pay international stream.

I hope doing this does help to raise the profile of the sport within Norway.

@CaroLiza_fan - the streams says to start only with junior men tomorrow, so as I suspected the regulations for streaming of athletes under 15 might have something to do with it as they won´t stream novice at all.

It's a pity they aren't showing the Novice competitions, but I understand why. The only problem is that it has made it mighty complicated to work out the best way to put the streams into the table in the OP. Particularly since on Saturday, Norway has the girls and the boys on separate streams, but the rest of us have them all on one stream.

So, do you think the layout I have come up with is clear enough?

CaroLiza_fan

I was just looking at the Time Schedules for tomorrow's two Ladies SP segments, and there have been a number of withdrawals.

In Juniors, #10 Anna IUSHCHENKOVA (ISR) and #20 Matilde PETRACCHI (ITA) have been removed.

Anna's sister, Viktoriia IUSHCHENKOVA (ISR), is still down to be the 21st and final skater to go in Seniors.

In Seniors, #17 Josefin BROVALL (SWE) has been removed. But her sister, #5 Julia BROVALL (SWE), is still there.

Also, it must have been before they did the draw, but I am one kid down. Anna-Flora COLMOR JEPSEN (DEN) isn't there in Seniors.
