a mao and mai video

If she had done 3Sal instead of a second 2Axle at the Worlds, she would have taken the Gold.

That's another thing that has puzzled me for a long time. Why doesn't Mao use a solo 3loop to replace the second 2A? Her loop is technically perfect and she is very comfortable with this jump. Why does she only include it in the combo jump?

Zayak rules. She already did two Lutzes and two flips. If she changed her 2A to a 3Lo then she would have to change the 3Lo at the end of her combination to a 2Lo (net loss, .8 ponts).

I still don't understand. If the Zayak rules only request you can repeat the same triple in a combo jump and a solo jump? Does it matter whether the jump is at the end of a combo jump?? Very confusing rules.

You can repeat only two different triples in all.

Each jump that you repeat, one of the repetitions must be in a combo or sequence.

You can do at most three combos/sequences, at most one of which can have three jumps (including doubles).

I understand this, but if Mao replaces 2A with 3loop, it won't violate the rules.
Her current jump layout is:

3A
2A+3T
3lut+2loop+2t (or sth like that)
3flip+3loop
3lutz
3flip
2A

So i don't understand why it will violate the Z rule if she replaces the 2A with a solo 3loop.

Because she already does two lutzs and two flips. You can only repeat two triples. But she could have done 3S.

I'd also love to see Mao bring back her sal. She hates the jump though and from early vids I have seen, has a tendency to over rotate it.

That's very interesting. Few days ago I saw a clip with Mao practicing a quad salchow shortly before Jr Worlds 2005 and I was extremely surprised - at that time she gave up trying for 3S in her programs. But her technique on 4S looked great - even though she underrotated it slightly more than 1/4 rotation, her take-off and air position was superb (plus she did not fall), so I could not imagine why she should have problems with 3S.
If overrotating is the problem, that would explain a lot. But I think she will bring it back eventually - there was a news clip back in October when she was practicing 3S and 3T with Arutunian and out of those two she already included 3T in her programs again.

If she had done 3Sal instead of a second 2Axle at the Worlds, she would have taken the Gold.

If she rotated 3T fully she would have taken the gold... Or if she did L4 layback instead of L1 she would have taken the gold... Or if she completed 3F3L in SP she would have taken the gold.
Out of those 4 possibilities I think getting the layback downgraded is actually the most frustrating one... There was simply not enough time for her to complete required revolutions and keep in time with the music. A shame, she has such a beautiful Biellman now that it would make a really wow finishing move if held for a long time.

i think it actually may be easier for mao to do a quad salchow than a triple. maybe in a manner of speaking the triple salchow is "too easy" and she tends to over roate it. So we end up with an over roated triple, or an under roated quad. Now if she could just do a little more or a little less.....

I might prefer seeing an over-rotated triple salchow. I don't really want to see her getting obsessed with a quad that can mess up the entire program as she did in Junior Worlds, SA, and GPF while she has so much more to charm the audience other than jumps.

Mao's jumping with her dog, I would have l love to see that.

The picture seems to be fake.

The picture seems to be from the Japan Super Challenge 2007. She did not jump with the dog. She only did very light steps with her dog. Her skating was significantly slower when she had her dog in her arms.

When she was doing her elements (jumps, spins, etc), the dog was left in the arms of her sister, Mai, at the rink side.

Here's her performance with her dog:

Then don't watch it or learn Japanese. I think it very arrogant for you to say so. The person who posted that video wouldn't be a professional translator, but created it for the sake of the ppl who don't understand Japanese using his/her own private time. That would have taken really a lot of time. Suppose you post a video, would you be so kind as to use your own time to put subtitles into any language for ppl who don't understand English? How good would your translation be? Remember that English is used by non-native speakers all over the world and not everyone even needs to be bilingual or trilingual.

sorry:p

Ok I'm kind of going off far back but would anyone know whether it's possible to download the Mao - Mai video? Thanks!
