Adeliia Petrosian

“On the day of the short course I was very worried, I didn’t know what to prepare for, there was some uncertainty. On the day of the free skate, on the contrary, I was very calm and enjoyed the performance. The content was a little different from what I'm used to, but we'll work on that," Petrosyan said on Channel One. Eteri Tutberidze was in Beijing as the coach of the Georgian national team and did not accompany Adelia when she took to the ice."I knew when she was leaving, so I went down specifically. We chatted a little, she hugged me, kissed me. She, too, was obviously very worried and nervous. I felt her very close to me. So everything went well," the skater added.

This is once again about the mental strength, not just "doing tricks". And IMO this strength is still underappreciated when people talk about the team.

Hate can't be underestimated, but I hope Adelka's personality blunts it to lowest possible level.
I'm not worried at all about all the haters. I think Adeliia is too focused on the Olympics to care about social media nonsense.

What will the haters attack? The few reports in the media? I think the media won't reveal too much information so that Adeliia can prepare for the Olympics undisturbed. Even if they do, no one believes Adeliia reads the forums? She'd have to be vain for that, and she doesn't seem to be. At least not more than any other girl her age.
On social media, she'll be as active as she has been in recent months: practically inactive. I'd be surprised if there were more than one post per month. More likely less. What will the haters react to? The fan channels aren't a threat either. The admins will clean up the fan channels.

In Russia, everything will be done to make Adeliia feel comfortable. I think supporters will be clearly in the majority. The few "bots" from Zagi, Shcherbakova, Trusova, or Valieva who hate Adeliia with all their heart don't interest anyone. They'll be in the minority. The majority of fans in Russia will support Adeliia. She and Petr are the only athletes from "Russia" competing in figure skating in Milan (if they get permissiom from IOC). She'll also ignore the few journalists who are already writing that Adeliia will definitely fight for gold. She knows herself how good her shape will be. Let them write what they want.
I don't see any real danger there.

Besides, how are you supposed to insult someone who has a healthy dose of self-irony? Adeliia can also laugh at herself sometimes (e.g., when she takes part in a quiz about herself and makes fun of the fact that she couldn't answer 3 out of 32 questions correctly, or when she says she likes to sing but has no talent and that's why everyone would run away without looking back when she sings). To me, Adeliia gives the impression of being tidy and self-reflective and of being able to assess herself very well.

Foreign haters? Sorry, she'll ignore them even more. Most haters only hate her because she's Russian or because of Eteri Tutberidze (keyword: Kamila Valieva). That's even harder to take seriously.

But anyone who just wants to enjoy sports might not love Adeliia, but they'll definitely respect her. I think Adeliia did far too many things right in Beijing for objective fans to hate her.

Long story short: I'm more worried about whether she can restore and stabilize the 3A and one quad than about all the haters.

Eteri Tutberidze on Okko about Adeliya (translated with google):
"Adela was having doubts, saying, 'No, that's it, I'm not ready, I can't go in this state.' They asked her, 'Why are you refusing? Are you really going to give this spot to the reserve girl?' She said, 'Yes, if she's more worthy, let her go.' It just turned out the reserve girl [Edit: GorbachEva] was even less ready."

"The season didn't start the way we imagined. Because it was...an injury. A pretty serious injury, she was out of training for 3-4 weeks, which is a long time. She was out a little late. At first, she tried to train and heal, train and heal, until they finally got the right diagnosis. It turned out that rest was the only treatment she needed. And time was running out. By the time she returned, there were already two weeks left before her departure. Her boot had really dented her, so much so that the leather had come off right down to the flesh. This, again, needs to be approached differently."

Two weaks before the departure, that's insane...

Only two weeks to prepare for a competition. Insane. But that again shows how strong she is.
"If the other girl is more worth than me, send her" shows also, how responsible Adeliya is.
If Adeliya, who is panicking when she would like to tell Eteri that she doesn't want to train for one day, says this to Eteri, it shows me how dramatic the situation really was.
Incredibly strong girl. Just two weeks of preparation and no (big) mistakes and clean skate. Wow! Just: Wow!

Interview with Adeliia at the test skates with english subtitles. She is really amazing character, supercute yet standing on the solid ground.

Poor Master, she's obviously already under a lot of pressure. I feel so sorry for her, this Olympics nonsense will probably end her career, either in a good way or a bad way, there are like 3 Russians qualified for Olympics at the moment and there won't be many more. The pressure will be even bigger than what Yulia or Kamila experienced..
