The knee does indeed is looking somewhat swollen >_<

I doubt it, actually. I think she tried this layout on her own as "on the fly" decision since she was afraid to miss the podium after failed sp and Sinitsina overscoring. Really, this new program layout is too sloppy for Gleikhengauz design. Also 4T goes just after 4S without any time to recover - it is too demanding even for adult males.
I wouldn't be surprised if she is waiting Eteri's punishment now after this little prank ))

Beautiful pics :)
I hope she is okay and doesn't push herself to injury

Eteri: "what is this?! you have revealed our secrets? go jump 4Lz in the corner!"

She actually fell on her left knee. Anyway, I am sure the impact was big and there would be definitely some damage, hopefully it will recover fast and without complications. Such a scary fall, I watched the FS again and still gasped even though I already knew she would fall. :console:

I doubt that she decided to add the second quad overnight. It's way too risky, mostly for her own health. Maybe they planned the new opening of her FS just shortly before Eteri and team went to the Olympics and due to lack of time it seems a little bit sloppy. If you watch carefully, there's an additional thunder-like sound, occurring exactly while she's in the air and is rotating the 4S (imho, great match of element and music), then afterwards she gives a signal with her hands right in the moment when the music changes pace and finishes the second quad and spiral when the music gets slow. Of course, these are my personal speculations. We will know at JWC for sure. Maybe they wanted to test her if she is ready to pull 2 quads in a competition. :dbana:

Sorry for posting again but could anyone take a closer look at her lutz and tell me if it's technically ok? It is still difficult for me to generally decide if the edge is right or not but particularly for Sasha I recall that she used to have a more defined lutz edge than now.

The Lutz edge is fantastic for her. The touch of the toepick is also wonderfully light. To me she has one of the prettiest Lutz jumps out of the ones who do pre-rotate like she does.

The reason you have doubts for the Lutz edge is because she uses a similar entry to Medvedeva's where many skaters frequently flutz, but she doesn't at all. It's easy to make the mistake with the usual view from the side due to her also dragging the skate so far to the side. But take a look at her SP Lutz where you have a better angle:

Here

You notice it's a very deep edge and it's never close to even turning flat. Especially if you slow-mo you notice the edge even becomes deeper towards the end rather than opening up.

:thank: Oh yes, the camera angle in the SP video is far better than in the FS to tell the difference. Thank you for the explanation!

Today's practice

FS runthru - 4S, 4T (<?) // 3Lz3Lo, 3F-1Lo-3S, 3Lz3T, 3F, 2A

If this is the 4T it does not look UR.

If it was it'd have had to been by a very tiny amount because it's still a 24 FPS video and the frame before landing she's quite high and the frame on landing isn't that close to 90 degrees(estimate 75-80). The air time also is completely typical for her(All her clean quads have had the same air time by 1 frame accuracy, which this one hits precisely).

Hm, judging by her layout and training sessions there - it seems I was mistaken after all - about her presumably "unauthorized by coaches" 4T at Final Cup of Russia competition. Most likely it was planned before. Nevertheless I would focus more on SP training being in her boots - clean SP is more important now. It's not like she hadn't any problems with it - especially if you recall last competition's SP disaster. On other hand maybe being confident in quads will help her to be calmer and cleaner in SP too - what I can know? )

I don't know what the future holds for Trusova, but my God those quads are spectacular. The 4S is HUGE. She is a perfect storm of power and rotational speed. The lift she gets. Wow. So exciting to watch, even the practice videos. Honestly one of the greatest IMO, ever. (Yeah, I like jumps). She reminds me a great deal of Tara at the same age, although I think Tara was about 3 inches smaller at 13. I hope she lands one or both in the FS, but even if she doesn't, it is fun to see them landed in practice. Wouldn't it be something if she landed both quads?
