Finally, after re-watching Sasha's short program for the 15th time, I can finally collect my thoughts (at least most of them).

Sasha performed with such power that is only available to a few top men. She clearly looks restricted by the limited set of elements of a short program, but each of the elements was executed as if she wouldn't mind to add another rotation or a backflip here and there.

The accented 3Lz-3Lo is just mind-blowing. The average GOE of 4.44 speaks for itself.

In this season many of Daniil's programs have a two or three-second delay at the beginning, adding certain sublimity, the feel that a skater knows his own worth and doesn't need to rush. Sasha's worth is double, so there is another pause in the middle of the program.

Thankfully, I don't remember Kill Bill well, so I can just enjoy the music as is, and the music suits Sasha perfectly. She's the only girl in the world capable of harnessing such power.

I love the costume of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. I can't understand why some people say it looks as two different costumes or that the jumpsuit would be better without the dress - imagine Yuzuru's last FS without the shirt...

Probably the only thing I missed in Sasha's program is her hypnotizing glare from her last FS. This served her very well in the first half - as if she isn't playing any role and just being herself, ready to slay anything or anyone at will. But in the second half her look was kinda lost somewhere around the rink. There were a few looks (>1<, >2<, >3<), but they were only for a fraction of a second, the director couldn't even take a close-up.

All in all, this is my favorite program in this season so far. Sorry, Alena and Alena.

By the way, I found it remarkable that Sasha was delighted with the audience and the attention to her, but she seems not to care for the perfect skate or the scores at all. "It's higher now" is all she said when she saw the scores.

Danil surely gave Sasha a program best suited to her. And I do think the choreo, pacing of the music is somewhat better than Anna's but not Alena's. Alena's program has two sides of different emotions, which is why I like it.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Judges score this SP higher than Alena's during JGPF this year, simply because with Sasha's technical superiority, the program "shines" more. + More epic too.

Thanks to dante's thoughtful analysis, I was able to go watch it again with a bit more objectivity.

I don't want to guess too specifically as to what emotion was behind it, but she did strike me as a bit hesitant about something. Maybe she was nervous like someone suggested, maybe just distracted, maybe something else, but that could have been behind some of my initial reservations about the program.

Actually listening to the lyrics, which I couldn't hear well the first time because I was so focused on the skating, they sound pretty vague, like they could easily just be about some bossy childhood friend that the singer has mixed feelings about, not about a violence-fest movie. The slower-paced skating, which I found somewhat beneath her skill level at first, fits the music now that I can actually hear the words.

The program as a whole still has to grow on me a bit, but that 3Lz-3Lo and that cantilever into a spin are things of glory.

Now tomorrow, hopefully a 4Lz!

...and eventually, the world's first 4Lz-4Lo? :slink:

My god, I wouldn't be surprised if she lands a 4Lz 4Lo in the future, because her 3Lz 3Lo is like perfection (and it's also a double hand rippon at that).

Good program. What’s with the camera intermittently cutting from professional HD to potato fancam though?

Wow as a kill bill fan, I love this program. She improved a lot from last season. Skating seems to be much smoother now. Sasha just moved up on my list:luv17:

Yes I did notice her skating skills and choreo to be more smoother than last year. Hopefully, by next year she will have even better, mature skating skills and artistry to match her over the top OMG jump skills.

Ha, ha, Has anyone ever landed quad + quad, any of them?
It would be very interesting is Sasha will do it first !

I'm glad that there were more of spectators than on previous Grand Prix. People finally waking up.
Sasha, good luck today, we love you!

Plushenko had prepaired 3A-4T combo but when it was showtime he was already out of order with ruined spine. Never attempted in competitions.
AFAIR nobody attempted a combo with the second jump higher than 3T or 3L.

:hap10:
I liked this SP a lot, in every moments and details.

Sasha was brilliant , and I can't find anything I would like to change (besides ISU rules - a quad as a fatality strike would be especially cool).

In my opinion, this FP is Daniil's best work. ever.

I totally agree! It's a real work of art and absolutely perfect for Sasha. I loved her last season, but she truly blew me away at this competition. She has real killer instinct and she'll never leave you bored for a moment!
