Alina Zagitova

I am amusing myself on lockdown evenings by going back and watching skaters' previous performances that I hadn't seen before, and have just turned up Alina's first outing at the JGP, which I think would make this her first international event (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YTBnA2qe3c). I really like this program, and found myself seeing hints of some of her future performances - there's a bit of Carmen in the opening turn she does, and some Cleopatra in the step sequence. She was already a very strong jumper, with those beautiful big rippon triples, and her spins are beautiful. (Though when did she get her signature Lz-Lo combination? She does a lovely Lz-T here.) And to think how much she has achieved since then, in so short a space of time!

"She also impressed in the short to “Samson and Dalilah,” but couldn’t do her Lutz-loop combo as the loop is the required solo jump in the junior short program this season. She did the standard triple Lutz-triple toe instead."

Just a short quote from the article on https://www.goldenskate.com/2017/03/2017-world-junior-ladies/ in response to your question.

Thank you, Zagimen! That makes sense - I feel a bit silly for not putting two and two together, with the loop as the solo jump. But what this means, then, is that if I go find her free programme from 2017, I can probably expect her Lz-Lo there! Off I go, to find JGP Alina being impressive as ever.

Edit: Found it, and something looked different about this Don Quixote, besides the leotard - and then I realised she had her hair in a ponytail for the JGP at St Gervaise.

Double edit: She slips in her finishing pose, but is just the most adorable little ray of sunshine throughout. And it is so fun to see the first international outing of the OGM winning free programme - she really tightened it up and polished it, but even in this early stage, it is an incredible feat of stamina and athleticism. And she was just fourteen!

:agree:
Don't forget to watch this - Alina's SP from 2017 Rus Nats, exclusively, with her mighty Lz-Lo combo included. :)

This reminded me of that reporter who interviewed Alina for Remembrance Day last year (I think) saying 'I think she has wings....'

That was the photographer that did a photoshoot when Alina was shooting a clip with the 1TV for the Victory Day; oh, and her name is Alina too :)

From FSO (re: Shiseido ads) -

"... the very first video of this advertising campaign in YouTube has collected 1,500,287 views since May 27"

And this -

"Shiseido Philosophy (from Shiseido website) - For the Shiseido brand, beauty is not only about looks; this feeling, and when we share it, we imagine a world that is getting better. We value beauty in the diversity and characteristics of all of humanity. We realize that the world is not perfect, but we perceive beauty as an antidote, a place of power, a feeling that needs to be shared - we believe that beauty is the source uniting everything in this world. Shiseido. We have been bringing beauty to the world since 1872.

And all these words can be fully attributed to Alina"

It really says something that this company chose Alina to represent them.

also from Shiseido:

“According to the president of SHISEIDO Ginza Tokyo, Mr. Masahiko Uotani, he saw Alina at the Olympics, where the red ballerina struck him with her grace, beauty and strong champion's character. ⁣⁣⠀
That evening, during the ladies free program, he decided that it was Alina Zagitova who should represent Shiseido on a global scale.”⁣⁣ ⠀
