Alina Zagitova

It's going to be an emotional final episode 🥺

From FSO -

Evgeny Plushenko's interview about Alina at the Olympics:

He rooted for Alina, because her style is closer to him, despite the fact that he called Zhenya "the greatest" for her character.

Eugene led a column on sports express during the games:

From the first part :

“... It is clear that Zhenya has more experience, but Alina won the European Championship deservedly . I liked both the program and the confidence of this young girl. "

From the second part :

“.... I also really liked the free program of Alina Zagitova. Clearly, competently, beautifully. With confident jumps, difficult combinations. Not a single blot! Clever girl! Brilliant! ...

... I watched the broadcast from Pyeongchang early in the morning - and enjoyed Alina's skating. How easily and confidently makes all the combinations! Her jumps are the most technical. Smooth, fast, with height. Class! "

From the fourth part :

“.... So Alina did not spray on smiles. Nothing extra. I just did my job well. Well done! I did all-all-all the elements perfectly, deservedly received a record 82.92 points. There is nothing to be surprised at. The program is bright, rich, in terms of complexity now no one even comes close to it. And the image is gorgeous. Twisting jumps, for all the pluses. Cool step sequence. Great choreography, many hands. And not in statics - it should be noted also the work of the body.

.... On the one hand, Zhenya deserves Olympic gold like no one else. On the other hand, how can Alina's skating leave someone indifferent? .....

.... If we start exclusively from technology, Alina is closer to me than Zhenya.

From the fifth part , the final one:

“.... Now that everything is over, I can admit that I was initially confident in the victory of Alina Zagitova. I was rooting for her.

A month ago, barely over at the European Championship, I made three bets - with my wife, my agent Ari Zakaryan and Maxim Kovtun. All of them put on Zhenya Medvedeva in Pyeongchang. And I - to Alina.

... ... My sympathies were on Zagitova's side, not only because of the dispute. I love her choreography. The image of a swan in the short program. ....

“Let's take an axel with two and a half turns. Alina has it much larger, higher in flight. Zhenya and the axel are, let's say, tense.

As with the lutz, where there is a change of rib. Zhenya's is internal, but should be external. Therefore, in a cascade, instead of a triple lutz, he makes a triple rittberger. Clean - but this jump is easier, with it you will not win the Olympics.

To celebrate Way-Back Wednesday, I bring you the moment when Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton, Tanith Belbin, Tara Lipinski and Paul Wylie all lost their minds over Alina's practice jump combination during the 2018 Olympics. -

Alina's message for kids to participate in the "Miracle in the yard" competition (decorating the trees there for the New Year and sending their videos to the online competition)

and you definitely do NOT want to be in Alina's way when something doesn't go according to plan 😂

Professor on the VTsIOM poll results:

- For me, Alina has for a long time been not just a figure skater, - said Mishin. - She is also already a public person. She has an amazing capacity for work and is very talented. As a young lady, athlete and media personality, she appeals to me. I would put only one athlete ahead of her - Lionel Messi, who recently broke Pele's record. I understand that the rating consists of Russian athletes, but this is my opinion. She has no equal for a long time in the Russian media field.

As her fan, it warms my heart to hear all these nice things being said about her. I’m glad they see the Alina that her fans have always known: someone who is humble, kind, incredibly hard working, talented yet down to earth, someone who will succeed in whatever she puts her mind to. I’m so glad to see Alina navigate her post-Olympics career as well as she has. Her family must be so very proud.

This is interesting. I wonder if some of Alina's more strident critics in the media will tone it down? Some of them (Imamov & Kuznetsov) already seem to be easing up. From FSO -

By the way, the leadership in the Internet voting of "Komsomolskaya Pravda" for the best presenter and Match-TV (sportswoman of the year) is a pleasant trifle compared to Alina's 5th place in the annual poll of VTsIOM. It is useful to pay attention to who and how conducts the poll / voting, determines the rating - an official structure (like the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion) with experience and reputation, a respected print publication, a major TV channel or a company that does not specialize in statistics.

D. Kuznetsov from FE about the VTsIOM poll and Alina's success:

“Yesterday was published, perhaps, the most significant rating in our country - popularity. This is not online voting and counting likes, but a poll of the official structure. VTsIOM (All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center) asked the population the question "Who do you consider the athlete of the year?" As a rule, respondents name those who were heard."

Not exactly on the level of Mishin's praise but still nice to read. :) From FSO -

Betina Popova
- Alina Zagitova was recognized by the fans as the best presenter of the year. A well-deserved reward or an advance?
- She received this award for how she developed during the project. I watched the entire Ice Age. I confess and repent (laughs). There is such a sin. Alina progressed abruptly. For such zeal for victory, she can be rewarded. Alina is an athlete to the core. I'm ready to become the best in everything. From the first issue to the penultimate one, she took an incredible step forward. She speaks freely, jokes, naturally looks at the camera, otherwise she presents herself. I think she deserves this award.

Errr... I wish... Kouznetsov has some personal vendetta against Alina or something, he couldn’t properly digest the news about her being amongst those top athletes and had to produce „an opinion piece“ (or „ a verbal diarrhea“ would be more proper description), which I will link, but suggest you not to read.

The fact that she’s on the list, although she’s not competing this season makes him lose sleep, apparently. The dude just can’t fathom how that could’ve happened.

I‘m not sure there’s anything in the world Alina could do to make the likes of him satisfied. She doesn’t need to, just shows that whatever she does or doesn’t do, some people will choose to find a way to hate on it.

Well I hope it keeps him awake at night because he is contributing to this -

The most mentioned athletes in the Russian media in 2020:

1.Khabib Nurmagomedov ( MMA ) - 109,522 mentions

2. Artem Dziuba (football) - 99 145

3. Alexander Kokorin (football) - 82,258

4. Alexander Ovechkin (hockey) - 46 355

5. Alexey Miranchuk (football) - 41,548

6. Alina Zagitova (figure skating) - 36,837

7. Fedor Smolov (football) - 36 664

8. Alexandra Trusova (figure skating) - 29 671

9. Daniil Kvyat (Formula 1) - 28 957

10. Alena Kostornaya (figure skating) - 27 444.

Considering the guy in the #1 spot competed exactly once in 2020, for a total of 7 minutes, then retired....I think Alina is just fine. Get used to it, Kuz. She's not going anywhere.

Also nice to see three figure skaters in the top 10.

Omg, I read it. He is so mad! :laugh2:

Someone should let him know that he is way too upset about an 18 year old girl deciding to focus on her first year at the university and her first job in television instead of competing during a pandemic.

Or maybe he is just upset that her fans still care about her? It's entirely possible to continue to care about someone when they do something other than what they are famous for. This should be more widely known.

Averbukh about his joint programme with Alina:

"averbukhofficial: Each of us, like a messenger of the universe, comes to the world with an open heart to fill it with love. I talked about this with Alina. And we wanted to tell you about this with our dance.

@azagitova thank you for the fact that our art was written so easily and freely! ..

And I would like to thank Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze @ tutberidze.eteri for an outstanding student and inspiring opportunity to create and work with her!

I hope that our flight into space will not leave you indifferent and will be successful as never before!"

I don't even know who this guy is.
Maybe he is just one of the many "experts" out there that are offended when the subject of their "expertise" proves them to be nothing but another windbag with an opinion.
