Alina Zagitova, who participated in the ice show on the Mokdong ice rink, attracted the attention of the reporters with a bright figure that was suitable for the sixteen flowers unlike the seriousness in the Pyeongchang Olympic Games. In the rehearsal, Zagitova was able to feel bright energy without hesitation with Korean figure skaters such as Min Yura and Cha Joon Hwan.

Thank you for the information and pictures.

Thank you for the pictures. I got lucky at caught TeamZagitova's instragram live so I was able to watch her full performance of Black Swan and the opening number. She truly rocked.

And now I see she is wearing braces, those very discreet modern ones, that is such a smart investment from her and shows maturity too (choosing to do this with her money). She is already stunning and will only become even more so.

Wow - great catch for you! In my case.... "you snooze you lose":bed:

Could you tell if Alina's performance of Black Swan had any modifications. Did she still do Triple Lutz-Triple Loop? I ask because I noticed that since Worlds in her "Tiger" exhibition she changed to Triple Lutz-Triple Toe Loop.

I have a link to Alina performing her exhibition at this show (only about a minute of it and video quality is not so good) but it does highlight the jump combination.

That tiger suit is so tight but it still fits her after growing 3cm

I love the pics of alina with her hair down! :luv17:

I have to my kid’s 5am call time to go to a game to thank for that, after I dropped him of I went to check my phone and got an alert for the live. And boy was that live worth it, very long, went on for over 15 minutes in all (going on and off to highlight Alina, with some Vincent content also) and I kept watching through it all.

Alina did her Swan program with all the spin elements and she did the lutz but popped (doubled it actually) the loop in the combo. Since those are EX pieces now that is super smart of her and on the her second piece (the Fire Goddess) she did the combo perfectly.

why there is so many talk about those 3cm? i doubt it plays any serious factor
all i see in previous pages is

3cm
3cm
3cm
3cm
3cm
3cm
3cm

actually it was 5cm and alina said it has affected her jumps (in yesterdays korean interview)

I'm sure she'll be fine though :agree:

She was so... average back then.
I've been watching novice tournaments since Sochi and can't say she was an interesting skater to me at all. Medvedeva, Sakhanovich, Tsurskaya, Fedichkina, Gubanova, Nugumanova, Lozko, Mitrofanova, Kurakova - all those girls had season or months when they shined bright or at least showcased some element (e.g. Lozko's spins) or quality that drew my attention. Alina - not so much. Maybe her costumes, she looked quite nice stepping on the ice, but then she'd been usually wiping the ice with it, rather than presenting the story, so...

Well, I guess I was not as insightful viewer as I'd like to think I am.:laugh:

How the Americans call it? Underdog :yes2:

How the Americans call it? Underdog :yes2:
I think "underdog" is an understatement, it's somebody competing against favourite, while she wasn't even considered an international competitor before 2016/17 season.
I remember many people were asking "who?", when the assignments for JGP were announced. Then she arrived to France in August 2016, scored 194 and people went :reye:
1/3 of them were amazed, 1/3 :rolleye: at "another jumping bean with no artistry", 1/3 claiming she'd been one-time fluke.

Oh man, time flies.

I confess I was one of these people
Me too. I was amazed, but also thought all the stars in universe aligned for these two skates in Saint-Gervais and she rather won't be able to repeat it.
I doubted her until her free at Junior Worlds, when after Marin's phemomenal PB performance, she delivered big time and beat my fave. It was so impressive and heart-breaking at the same time. :sad21:
Also a powerful statement - since then, I knew she's legit contender for Olympic medal.

I’d say she is getting great height in that jump, thanks for this very cool slow motion.

I remember Johnny Weir’s comments on Rippon and Tano jumps saying the thing that makes so hard (and as such rewardable) is that they shift your center of gravity during a jump. Alina’s Rippon and Tanos to me are some of the best around today (some Japanese Girls also do pretty great ones, to my particular taste at least). Some kids as they grow stop doing Tano and Rippon as they adjust their jumping technique, in the same way that others are able to do them later when they weren’t able before.

With this in mind maybe getting taller might shift you of your usual game until you adjust to your new height. I think it’s all in adjusting and learning to work with your new conditions.
