Alina Zagitova

What I like about her in all these interviews and interactions is how... normal she is. The same tone of voice, the same face expression as ever and immediate, sincere answers. It's rare these days.

I like this too, she speaks really well and has a calm (yet happy) way of saying things. I admire how she handles herself in these press situations being so young, she is so natural.

Full Japanese TV show where they talk about Masaru, where she will leave and they again show Iriska and mention Iriska by name too, she is a celebrity too.

Iriska deserves no less!

Glad that Masaru will get to spend her time at the school during the day so Iriska can still be Queen of her Domain and Masaru can be surrounded by lots of love and attention.

Sounds like they have found a harmonious solution for everyone and everything! Even the chinchillas! Everyone wins!

I meant that Zhenya's interviews are very artificial and cliched.

I can name only two active Russian skaters off the top of my head, whose interviews wouldn't be artificial and cliched - Medvedeva and Bobrova. Their joint interview is something I'm not sure I should translate for a wide audience, it's too... original.

and dont forget , Alina will be a leader of the Russian team , this will add responsibility , I think Zenja leaves the team, I'm sure for 90% .
No more reason to waste her health, Zenja train is tutuu . Sad, but true :( I will miss her

So far I think Zhenya will be on the team, at yesterday’s SOI broadcast they also had a nice interview with her where she talked about her plans with healing fully being on the top and then training hard for the upcoming season. Things can change of course but I think she will be Alina’s peer, and I’m happy about that.

I’m super impressed by her, how she competed with excellence with what must have been a horrific injury, looking at the time it is taking for her to fully heal.

I’m glad she will be with Alina, she is a great example of hard work and perseverance and I think her presence alongside her is a great learning experience.

These girls are more mature than their age. I believe it is something to do with the environment that they grow up with. It is a cut throat business and they are under part of the Government "structure". It makes me drawing the parallel for the athles situation in other communiSt country, like China. You can see the reaction of Zhenya when she realized her score is second to Alina, her first reaction was crying, realizing she was in TV, she came up with smile. Alina has the magic to make you love her no matter what she behaves...I am sure this some how help her success in her career both inside and outside the rink.

Russia now absolutely capitalist country, the state pays for the expenses of the athletes only if they enter the national team

As I said today, the Zenja leaves Tutberidze team :( now Alina nr.1 for Eteri.

Officially will be confirmed at 7 th of May

Zhenya left Etery. So for the next season Alina will be the most experienced and titled athlete in Etery team.

Wow, wish Zhenya the best in her new arrangements, she is a very hard working person and her determination is admirable. She will find success wherever she is.

Since I love Alina I wish her a great training environment that can further foster her growth, she won’t have any senior skaters to learn from but she will have several senior trainers focused on getting her to the wonderful (high) places she deserves. She is already hard working and focused, this upcoming season will be her place to shine.

This is an excellent video. I love that it is such a big story in Japan.:luv17:

Just think about how well Alina is interacting with the Japanese people through her interviews and press conferences.

I saw this on twitter too:

Very famous dog alert! Is it weird that I feel like Alina Zagitova’s new puppy gets about as much media attention in Japan as actual figure skaters get in the US? But I can’t deny it—that dog’s a star!

I don't think it is "weird" at all. It is a cultural exchange.
But it does say something about how little attention figure skating gets in the US:sad4:

She is already hard working and focused, this upcoming season will be her place to shine.

Even if I'm still shocked after these news, I can not help but wonder how this change will affect Alina. From now on she remains the leader of Eteri's team, the example and role model for all the younger girls. She is a tough girl, and I think she will like this status, maybe even she'll gain confidence and energy from it. How you specified above, the coaching team will also be more focused on her training.

Anyway it would have been hard for them to train together, as the top two ladies in the figure skating field. :scratch2:

I secretly hoped that Alina would be the one to move to TO to train with Orser. But she is young and still very attached to her family. Maybe one day. We'll happily welcome Evgenia just the same :)

Actually, Polina Tsurskaya is one year older, so theoretically... ;)
