Alina Zagitova

How can they be so undiplomatic? It's still a mystery for me:shocked:

Seriously! What is he thinking? On what planet is that statement ok? To publicly state that you don't think one of the students you work with and choreograph for deserved her component scores from the international judges? The student who just happens to be the reigning Olympic Champion!

So all of the international judges got it wrong? Every last panel at 5 different international competitions? At three different Grand Prix events and the Euro Championships? And the Olympics? Let's not forget Russian Nationals. So all of them were just delusional and seeing something that wasn't there?

Whatever. Please go back to shutting up and minding your own business, Zeleznayakov.

Some people just hate Eteri for being so successful and for monopolizing figure skating in ladies.
But she's the creator of both Evgenia and Alina.... without she the girls wouldn't have gone so far.

This isn’t directly Alina related so I’m going to keep it brief - but my dislike of Eteri has nothing to do with results. I dislike her coaching “methods” (I’ll use the term lightly), and subsequent health problems of her students, and over the years and as we’ve just seen her completely immature attitude when a skater leaves her. She’s very manipulative and calculated with the vile she spews hoping to damage their reputation and career. ....and that’s me being nice :scard8:

Do you all think Alnas affection for Zhenya has changed with what has happened the last couple days and what was revealed about how Zhenya may have not wanted Alina in the olympics? How does Alina handle this? I suppose she just moves on and does her thing.

Zheleznyakov was just being honest. I think he was trying to say that no one on the team tried to push Alina forward, she got her programs and trained them. No one wanted to sabotage Evgenia, But even the team didn't expect that Alina's components will rise that drastically in such a short time. It was all in the hands of the judges.

Health problems- I think every skater has some, unfortunately. I remember Inna Goncharenko saying that all skaters have health problems, and it matters if these allow the skater to compete. It means that usually skaters compete and train while being injured.
She's not the classiest person in the world, but I think she is fair with her students,

I'll take this one step further and say he has more than disappointed me he has really made me angry with that statement. I feel sorry for Alina having to deal with this crap in her own rink. It's one thing for everyone else to say the 'judges were wrong, Zhenya should have won' but one of her own choreographers? This is not acceptable.

I think his point was if you look at her pcs at the start of the season and olympics there’s a huge discrepancy. He doesn’t say that Alina shouldn’t have won it through in my interpretation just that no one expected it.

No, I don't think they were so close so to speak about affection.
They got along well when they had to (due to the situation, training camp in Japan or shows) and respected/respect each other, but this is it.

This. 1000 times this. And only this. Anything else is a waste of energy. And if she ever has a moment where negativity creeps into her mind she just needs to take a quick selfie of Masaru wearing her Olympic gold medal with her new iphone 10.

I am not sure about being harshly fair is good anyway. I hope Alina will find a better situation soon.

Alina might not agree. Eteri is difficult. Everyone knows that.
.
Do you blame Gracies coach for her eating disorder? Of course not.

For every kid that leaves Eteri 200 want in.

Fair enough. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. His remarks could have been edited. Also he could have gone into a more detailed explanation that wasn't printed.

I really hope so.

Maybe youre right. But their hugs seemed real.

Theres a reason kids are considered minors - they don’t have full agency in these decisions and you know that. I don’t feel the need to post every quote from Eteri and her students about food and training they’re out there easily found on the internet, but it’s obvious how these children are treated. Tough doesn’t cover it, there’s another much more apt word but I’ve already said enough, this is an Alina fan thread.

Her focus is amazing. Alina is great and Zhenya maybe struggled with that. Eteri did not hold Alina back thank God! Even though she wanted Zhenya for gold I say thank you Eteri for letting Alina do the very tough program she did. It was golden and deservedly so.
