Alina Zagitova

I'm not completely sure but I think Diana was present at most competitions abroad where Eteri was with her students. I don't think this was the case.

All and all, we saw Alina skating full Black Swan program, her jumping technique is obviously as perfect as anytime, we saw her doing slalom for japan TV show, so if she would train as usually and don't loose self-confidence, there is nothing to worry.

Of course Diana goes. She is15. Eteri is not going to let her stay home by herself

Unique photo. She wants to be different. I like it. I hope we all do. Madison?
I love it.
I'm aging myself but it looks like the type of picture that "LIFE" magazine would feature.

I wonder who took the picture?

Yes Life magazine.

Maybe Alina did this wild hair photo so she could become a Pantene spokesperson. ;)

It reminds me of 'the swing at the edge of the world' in Ecuador. I bet they've got something similar set up near her resort.

Edit - they do! Montana Redonda, DR :)

Edit2 - If you look at images for Montana Redonda they also have flying broom photos! Mystery solved.

I am clearly OBSESSED! :slink:

Wow we've been busy bees this weekend, just like Alina. The thread is flying like it's going in for a 3ltz+3lo combo. Me :agree:.

I think I'm caught up, so my comments:

1) On Alina's hair: I think she is trying out new hairstyles, she likes loose curls. But not for skating because I have a feeling (from looking at all her set ups since she was a kid) that she doesn't like to skate with hair swinging at her face, so I think that even with loose hair, she would want at least a partial ponytail (like the ones she used at SOI Japan or in Korea).

2) On Alina's mindset: I don't think she gets overly nervous, she does get nervous (or at least did) because she said so herself in interviews before. What I think that gets her the most is that she does like to win, and hates to make mistakes. We saw that clearly on the Japanese Game Show. She wants to do well and not make any mistakes. When she was little and skated with more errors, you can see how sad she was when a "bad skate" ended. She is super competitive and likes to excel. Even more so now that she has found considerable success in figure skating. First and foremost she wants to skate clean and roll the program like it was supposed to be rolled (with all the elements). I believe that thinking like this (wanting to be first always) is part of the reasons for her success, in order to fulfill this desire she had to get better, and better, and better. She knows the competition and knows herself, she will always get better, I think she mostly competes with herself (which is how it should be, you have to be your best and then see how far that gets you).

3) Her holiday pictures: she is clearly having fun and is enjoying sharing things on her instagram account. I think these last three pictures (from her stories) plus the one on the swing, are part of a photo shoot. She enjoys doing photo shoots, even for private consumption, so I think she is having fun with that. I'm glad she is and I'm having fun looking at it too.

Thanks for pointing that out - I didn't even think about it being a photoshoot. All 4 pictures were just perfect.

Oh well - and for a little while I thought maybe Sabina was a prodigy at photography :palmf:

Yeah - she is super-duper competitive! Don't try to take the last Eggo from her :dbana:

I'm thinking of the cute little foot stamp she did after she just missed the obstacle course the first attempt.

Yes but at least you can admit you're obsessed.

I am still in deep denial about my obsession.

As a matter of fact I am OBSESSED about denying my obsession.

Hey, maybe Sabina can still be the Cartier Bresson of the new generation, Alina loves photo shoots so much that my guess is she will have plenty of opportunities to practice.

That little foot stomp is a favorite moment of mine. Alina is always on Yoda mode “do or do not there is no try”. And she is right too, if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter, always make it count, that’s why she is so good.

"Yoda Mode"

May "The Force" always be with Alina.

Alina to Ashley in Yoda-ish....

That sometimes silence is golden on twitter, ashley you must learn

Believe it or not there is actually a "Yoda Speak Translator" out there - and it works better than Google Translate.
