BTW - I also did not see much (if any) difference between Alina and the other skaters with the leaning forward issue.
I hate that today I felt it neccessary to lessen my enjoyment of watching skating by scrutinizing this issue.
Well, I didn't have to - but it is an itch I needed to scratch
Enjoy watching skating however you like. Some people enjoy learning to recognise rockers, choctaws, etc., and being able to ID the steps in real time. Some people can’t enjoy a performance with URs or one given by a skater with less polished skating skills relative to the very best. Some just want to see the jumps. [emoji23]
As far as Alina posture goes: instead of thinking of it as a flaw, try this — it’s not perfect. Because that would be dull. If everyone were perfect, we wouldn’t need PCS, and we could just calculate the absolute maximum BV layout everyone is capable of performing, rank them, and award medals without bothering to have anyone skate, since “perfect” means we already know what’s going to happen. No one is perfect, Alina included, and I say that as a fan of hers. If her posture doesn’t bother you, then just consider it something that will likely improve as she skates and competes more but otherwise isn’t worth devoting excess mental energy to. You’re thinking about this more than I am, ironically, and I’m someone who’d say Alina’s posture, at times, bothers me.
On a more general note: I’m not devastated by her performance in the short, and I’d actually rather she make mistakes now and learn lessons in How To Compete early in the season, not later. One thing that worries me about seeing someone in the middle of a winning streak is the inevitable end of that streak — no one is ever going to achieve 100% consistency, and that’s not failure, just human limitation. WC18 was devastating in many ways but it shouldn’t have taken that free skate to remind people that Alina is still a teenager and an actual person with feelings, but when you’re always winning... it’s harder for others to remember that you’re as human as they are.
I think it’s a very good thing that the pop was almost forgettable after it happened — Alina was clearly upset, you could see it on her face when she struck her final pose, but she held on to her subsequent jumps and her levels and didn’t lose the programme. That’s impressive and the mark of a fierce competitor.
It’s a shame that the SP wasn’t ideal, but better to learn and come to understand how to deal with shaky landings and/or disappointment now over later.

It's so nice of Loena and not very nice of journalists who kept pressing the matter and asked to explain why Loena thought that! I also like Alina's reaction when Tatjana translated it to her - her shy smile and gratitude to Loena for saying that

I think I read somewhere that English is more or less the "unofficial" language for the skaters.
Alina even said that she wants to find time to learn English. She knows a few words, but not enough for conversations.
I believe this came up when she at "The Ice Show" this past summer.

What a weird statement. Russian isn‘t English. Like it or not, it‘s the common language all around the world. Russian isn’t. That’s a fact. Why would Gold or Osmond learn Russian if they know English? I didn‘t say Alina has to learn English at all costs, only that it would be nice to see her try. Maybe not now that she‘s got so much to do already, she‘s really busy. But it would just be nice because she is a super sweet girl and it might help her make friends with foreign skaters more easily.

I like Alina and I like Loena so I‘m totally happy to see them next to each other in a photo. Maybe it will end up like at Nebelhorn Trophy - Alina gold, Loena bronze! (And silver for my poor Kaori!!!!!)

Oh my... Ok 1 more time. Why Alina should learn English since she currently knows Russian? Russian is the international language, that's the fact indeed according to UN and the most common in Europe. Like it or not. And there is nothing bad for Osmond or Gold or other NAs to improve their education

I don‘t know what world you are living in... Skaters are all from different countries so they choose one language to communicate with each other - English. Russian isn‘t even the most common spoken language, it‘s only on 8th place worldwide. I think you are trolling.
Alina can do what she wants to do, none of us have a say in that. It was just a suggestion.

So she can communicate with other skaters and have more fun chatting with her friends from other countries that don't speak Russian.
So she can give interviews in English for English speaking media outlets thereby making it easier for English speaking fans to connect with her thereby increasing her global popularity.
So she can endorse products in English thereby increasing her international marketability and make more money!
So she can read all of our fabulous posts on her GS fan thread (because god only knows what Google translate is doing to them)
And just because it might come in handy sometime.
Gold and Osmond also need to learn Russian. Just in case they ever need to tell TAT off in her own language.
