Alina Zagitova

Huh... you go to work for eight hours and miss a few things.

The only things I will say is:

1. Alina won the gold medal fair and square
2. Why are people/reporters/interviewers still bringing this topic up, it's been months
3. If Trankov was smart he would've refused to answer the question instead of reigniting a dying fire
4. As someone said, why start drama once more on a week that has been so difficult for Eteri and Alina
5. Every skater has crazy "fans". Yuzu, Zhenya, and so many others. A true Alina fan would never wish harm on a baby. Absolutely ridiculous
5. Alina doesn't have anything to prove, but I hope she goes out on the ice and flawlessly murders everyone with some brilliant performances

I haven't read the interview yet but I read these posts and that's enough for me.

Case closed. And thank you to everyone for providing practice links :luv17:

Alina looks good in practice, other than the loops. She's very expressive and musical in the step sequence, I love the desperation. I am worried about the loops though, all the ones she did in the run through were underrotated :(. I'm sure she just needs more time to adjust that combo to her new body, though, which is understandable.

I don't think the first loop was underrotated. The extra ones she tacked on were. After watching the full length practice video, I'm dying for a Russian lip reader to tell me what Eteri was saying to Alina. She looked quite animated/a little annoyed throughout the practice.

If you watch it on slow-mo, all the loops are landed with the toe pick down at 180 degrees = UR. She normally gets them at the quarter mark, but these were not there. A few she did throughout the practice were about 1/4 under, but unfortunately all the ones in the run through were obviously under, and will be called by the panel.

This gives a good angle for her jumps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv1P9v2gcNw&t=1475s

what the heck is going on? I hope Alina doesn't have to put up with all this b******* again.

He must think what he says

come on, Max just tried to explain Tuktik's words. He never said bad about Alina (including this interview). He is good guy.

Read the article. He is very clear about why the Russian Olympic team felt like Zhenya deserved a gold medal for what she'd done in the past BUT also points out that Alina 100% deserved the gold medal based off performances in Peyoncheng.

I know you are trying to be funny but there genuinely people, calling themselves "Alina Fans"/"Alina's defender's" hoping his two year old daughter will die in an incredibly painful way. That is not justified and honestly is not something I would have expected.

BTW I put "Alina Fans" in speech marks because I know Alina would never condone the kind of behaviour these people are showing and she would be horrified if she found out what was being said in her name.

Trankov gave a fairly fair interview. But Alina cannot be happy to hear that all OAR athletes rooted for Med. smh. Why would trankov talk about that now?

Liza commentating on Alina? Did she retire? Shouldnt Mishins girl be training for her next event?

Some comments about Trankovs daughter are beyond disgraceful and unnecessary. Alina will disown anyone or any fan of hers making comments like that about a baby. We all disown people like that.

Yeah his interview wasn't saying bad at all. Trankov just loves him some Medvedeva like so many of the others do. I am surprised Bobrova did not move to Canada with Zhenya. ;)

Uhhh I have no idea what you’re seeing or how you’re counting rotations, but on slo-no the first loop on the 3lz-3Lo-3Lo during the run through was like 40 degrees short of rotation AT MOST and would never be called under. Even the second 3Lo was only 120 degrees short at most. And most of the loops during the rest of practice were landed fully backwards. The starting direction of a loop jump is at or very near the direction of landing of the previous lutz, not where the blade actually takes off from the ice. The action of the loop allows for 180 degrees of legal prerotation before the blade fully leaves the ice. If she (or anyone else for that matter) was consistently underrotating by 180 degrees there no way those jumps would be landed. They’d be falls.

From what I have read (via Google translate) on sports.ru, it seems to me that the lack of support Alina received immediately following her Olympic victory from the Russian skating elite has created an 'equal and opposite reaction' of strong support for Alina from a sizable majority of Russian figure skating fans. It warms my heart to see this.

Of course she still has detractors and critics and psychos like any other skater, but her supporters far outnumber them!
Sports.ru- is a site where the vast majority are fans of Alina, and Zhenya enemies. It is enough to read blogs and comments below them.

I counted the rotations from where she begins the loop, not from where the pre-rotaton stops. But where I counted the landing was when her toe pick touched down, and they looked UR to me. For example, the one at 34:14 it looked like the toe pick touched down when the blade was still forward. Obviously, I could be wrong and I'd make a gif to show what I'm talking about but that's outside my area of expertise.

I wasn't aware that it isn't possible to discuss Alina's jumps in her fanfest anymore, especially since that's the only place to discuss competition practices aside from the low attendance comp thread. It's not a competition and we're not arguing scores or what's deserved or not, just a comment on her jumps. But sure, you're welcome to add me to your ignore list if you think that's not a conversation that can be had in a fanfest. It's a conversation that has been in Alina's fanfest as well as others' without problems in the past.

The URs aren’t nonexistent, and calling them doesn’t make someone less of a fan.

again. it's a fanfest. not fest for a bashing about nonexistent URs

I'm confused, I didn't think saying she could have UR in her practice jumps qualify as bashing? Bashing to me is what is happening in the Edge threads, saying she has uncalled URs, PCS is undeserved, scores too high, etc., etc. Could a mod step in and clarify if it's not okay to have a post opening a discussion that includes something like a possible UR? What about other things that aren't completely positive like nerves, struggles, and other things along those lines? I admit I may not understand the rules correctly as I've seen these things discussed here and all over other skaters' fanfests without issues. However, if I've overstepped the rules of the fanfest, my sincerest apologies and I'll see myself out.

Dear colormyworld240, I just want to remind you, that you're not supposed to measure UR at the moment the toe pick touch the ice, but the blade. If someone tells you otherwise, they're wrong. Even more so, inertia of motion counts as well. That's how tech specialists explain why Satoko hardly ever recieves UR calls, even if her blade stood fully on the ice at the 180 UR mark.
