Alina Zagitova

TBH, I would wait another season to get a dog... though I doubt that by itself would be a huge deal.

In general and to be flippant, but I hope she learns from Yulia's example of what not to do... who got a new apartment(and/or old one remodeled)... new pets(I think)... and seemed a bit overly concerned with social media and what people were saying about her. Just so many distractions. Couldn't make it to the Japan Open... showed up at her first GP doing her FS in and old dress and then kept changing it. I doubt she would have lasted the whole quad but she could have won another world medal.

They ought to be conservative about changing anything in her personal life for a year or so.

This definitely isn't the same situation. And getting a dog wouldn't mean she doesn't have her priorities straight, it's just a pet. Many people have pets, it's quite normal....

I certainly agree with all you said the one difference being I think Alina has a stronger body than Yulia has. I don't think that Zagitova and Medvedeva will have the same issues that Yulia and Adelina had after the Sochi Olympics. And quite frankly I think that Zagitova and Medvedeva are better than Yulia and Adelina were and mentally tougher too.

In one of recent interview
https://youtu.be/zoNFKZtdrT8?t=463
in answer on common question about her young age and titles she says "I'm very happy but I'm trying to distance myself from media and fan's attention because as have been shown in the past it gives nothing but bad".

Importantly, Zagitova has much better technique than Lipnitskaya had. Lipnitskaya really had some of the most unsustainable jump technique around, especially her axel was infamously bad. In my opinion, that's why she's not a great comparable to Zagitova here. Zagitova also just is much better overall as a jumper, even outside the technique. Lipnitskaya could land and rotate jumps but that's about it - There wasn't much in the way of quality and several of her jumps were downright terrible. Zagitova on the other hand doesn't really have terrible jumps.

As for Adelina, she really was inconsistent all her career and continued being inconsistent afterwards. She just had a miracle competition where she skated almost clean(And got a +3T<< etc uncalled).

Traditionally, puberty's effect should be strongest when the technique is horrible. Zagitova's is so solid I don't see her jumps just disappearing. The +3Lo combo might become worse but then again, she seems to have plenty in reserve when it comes to +3Lo so maybe she still could perform it even if it became significantly worse.

Wow, NBC removed the SP video from above from youtube and the video doesn't work on nbcolympics...did anyone save it?

I found a russian mirror on youtube and made my own mirrors...

https://streamable.com/of0tl - I mirrored this one with a 1080p webm
https://openload.co/f/7NtajYryrU8/videoplayback.webm - 1080p webm
https://viuly.io/video/alina-zagitovas-black-swan-short-program-from-above-237409 - They wouldn't take the 1080p webm, so I mirrored it with a 720p mp4.

One weird thing is that I can see the lines from what I think is from short track skating under the ice that I don't remember seeing earlier... maybe higher color contrast from video processing?

You never know. I thought Polina E's technique was pretty solid too but she lost so many jumps after puberty (but other factors may have played a role). In any case, I hope Alina survives puberty and develops as an artist to prove those OGM naysayers wrong.

Actually, Alina herself and Alina's first coach said in interview, the skater they were both looking up to had been Yulia Lipnitskaya.

Video of Alina's performance from the show!

Poor girl, both her and Zhenya fell! They must be tired.

Also, lots of UR's from her. Nevertheless she said in the interview after the show that she wasn't tired at all 0_0 Well, it could be just lip-service or it could be lack of training/weight control and/or very poor light there for such amount of difficult triples. Anyway usually skaters do not skate their FP as EX show for a reason.

Don't panic! :)
Both Alina and Zhenya are young healthy girls. Let give them two or three days for the rest and thy will be OK, thats how young body works. Remember how there (I do not mean only here on GS) were pessimists before individual competition on the OG, how pressure can destroy them and so on. They are professionals, Eteri too. They know what to do and what they need to be fine at Worlds.

I was worried for her having to do the cascades from her free skate practically in the dark! Also I don't think Alina and Zhenya had time for a proper practice before the show due to attending the Putin election rally. It seemed to me she was (understandably) taking it kind of easy. Hopefully in the coming days the girls wont have so many public appearances and media/press obligations and can get back to their normal training routines to prep for Worlds.
