Thats not a big deal. We know at the beginning of the season she had to attack from much lower positions. She rode great, but she was little tired. For Caroline (and her skate was brilliant) its maybe tha last competition so she gave everything into it. Alina was like "yeah, one more time before the season ends"![]()

I think it's more tiredness than sadness... it must have been an exceptionally tiring season and Alina looked didn't really look as her energetic usual self from the beginning. Even though the judges favouritism is quite outrageous at this competition, I hope she still beat all competitors and judges in the end...![]()
yeah , tiredness is match fitness. all the time she have to attend event, where the blonde little girl hugging her , getting her signature, and going to show. Less time for her routine training to get ready for match. Hard to beat Carolina at her homebase, unless she tumble.I think it's more tiredness than sadness... it must have been an exceptionally tiring season and Alina looked didn't really look as her energetic usual self from the beginning. Carolina is planning an easier fs layout than at Euros or Olys and her best technical score is around 68 (Sotchi and COR 2017). Alina's is 83. So Alina has plenty of room for mistakes and she also has the backup plans if she doesn't hit planned combos. It will take an epic desaster for Alina not to walk away with the Gold medal tomorrow.
The starting order in the sp was also unfortunate for Alina because she skated right after Caro which hurt her PCS and Alina also had to deal with the home crowd cheers. In the fs event she is second to last, right before Carolina. I think this will help.
If Alina leaves the door ajar like she did in PC for Zhenya she will pay for it because the judges may want to send Carolina Kostner out with a fairytale ending. Too bad they're not as concerned with Zagitova's prospect of having the best and most historic unbeaten debut season at such a young age. I hope Alina has the energy and power and toughness for 1 more fine LP. But part of me wishes she didnt go to worlds and was already in her offseason. But without Alina this worlds would be a disaster for the Russian ladies because Zhenya is absent.
On a side note going to other threads yesterday it was just surprising how many people do not like Alinas skating and results. The venom is real.
ISU should be thankful . zagitova even show up after an Olympic gold win. How many people will do that? Even number 2 did not bother to show up.
Good point. Singles gold winners in the olympics almost always skip worlds and deservedly so.
What number 2? Zhenya?
Zhenya, yes. She was seen voting and getting a mickey mouse gold medal from her fans.
Did anyone seen Eteri look so happy on kiss and tell , even though the male skater fall twice.

Even if Alina skates of wonderful long program I don't think she'll get the score she got at the Olympics because they'll want to keep Carolina Kostner In contention in her final skate at home in a world championship. Carolina Kostner as good as she is and has been for over 10 years is one of the most consistently over scored figure skaters I've ever seen. We know Alina had to go and represent Russia at the World Championships because Medvedeva did not go and no Zhenya and no Alina wojld spell disaster for Russian figure skating. Once Alina won the Olympic gold medal her season should have been over because how the heckcan she really get up for the World Championships after just becoming Olympic champion at 15? I hope she has one more Big Time Performance in her this season and gets rewarded for it. But I am concerned that the judges will low-ball her and the ISU is lucky the girl even showed up in Milan. she doesn't need to be over scored but fairly scored and if she deserves to win she should win and if she doesn't she should not. One thing is for sure the ISU needed her Presence at the World Championships a lot more than Alina and needed to be there.

Judges can push Carolina as much as they want, but in the end maths will win. Kostner's planned program content is so significantly lower and she hasn't delivered a clean (difficult) free yet this season. They tried to push Zhenya at the Olympics too with +1,6 for the Flutz and more GOE on her spins than Alina. But still maths won.
I hope this is a joke...
I dont think it is.
Zhenya could not make it to Worlds because of injury. She deserves her time off and she needs her time off to rest her foot.
she was also injured before olympics, nothing stop her from going.
