I bet the folks at Shiseido are really happy that they've contracted Alina as their global brand ambassador, and are patting themselves on their backs for the new face of Shiseido in marketing campaigns.

But we here at the IHU (International Hamster Union) are really worried after noticing that something was amiss in the latest photo of Alina, and want to start a campaign with a couple of hashtags:

Please support us and spread the campaign all over social media.

I can imagine Shiseido is already planning a new line of eye-makeup to market just for this!

I'm still so excited about this program. Last season I wasn't happy when Carmen was announced, but it turned out to be amazing. It's such a great feeling to be looking forward to a program. There is not a doubt in my mind that she can bring this character to life on the ice.

The new (to her) spin she did in the Bad Guy exhibition will be perfect for Cleopatra style choreography.

I hope they get the costume perfect. This has so much potential for being another iconic image for her.

Agreed! I also hope her costume surprises us. No Hollywood Cleopatra please. I trust Eteri and team will keep it classy. That team has a great sense of style!

Alina's face fits the image perfectly (the original image doesn't though - the neck muscles look a bit too 'muscly' attached to that small face) - but I sincerely hope that that - costume-wise - won't be anything close to what Eteri has thought of for Alina.

The impression that the hands of men

I think you get that impression because Ilze Liepa (whose photo j00mla had used), is quite a tall lady (was considered to be too tall for a ballerina), so with her in the pic the hands would've looked quite proportional; with the little Cleohamster they look yuuuge!

Hi guys. I alredy read so many complaint's about Alina's free program and stuffs like she needs to be saved from Sambo and how Daniil is abusing her like "first, Carmen, now Cleopatra, what's next?".. But I'm so excited? I think it can be nice program for Alina. Her artistry is so good. It has huge potencial, I'm already looking forward!! I can feel the dynamic of it! And Alina loves getting into character, she wanted to show how her ballerina feels, then not skate to Carmen music but be Carmen and now she is Cleopatra. And I can't wait to see her costume, because Eteri girls always have so good costumes! It sure will be perfect and perfectly matching her dark hair!

Alina is not skating to "Cleopatra". This word is not in the name of any of the tracks, it's just a general thematic direction. "Warhorse" refers to the music choice. One of the tracks they've chosen for Alina had about 150 plays on youtube at the moment of me checking it. That's basically as much of an anti-warhorse as it can be.

All of the tracks Daniil has selected could be called war-ponies, at best - since they haven't been used THAT many times, so far. And it doesn't matter, since the figure skating 'fans' of the Equus africanus asinus variety would've complained even if Daniil had them composed by someone specially for the programme. :noshake:

Appropriation. They call it cultural appropriation. The moment where I know that me and some people on the west are each on another planet.

People can choose to be offended by the alleged appropriation of ancient Macedonian culture (which no longer exists) if they so desire. I will not waste the energy of a single brain cell to argue with them. Where do you even start with people like that? If this is the hill they choose to plant their flag on, then have fun with that. I'm also not going to read or listen to anything they have to say, because I don't care about their opinion, and I have profound doubts about their comprehension and understanding of 'culture' 'appropriation' and ancient Macedonians.

In the same spirit of the saying - "Let people enjoy things" I will now say "Let people be outraged about whatever they want to be outraged about." It is their energy to spend. If they want to stress about ancient Macedonian culture, who am I to stop them? If I want to think they are complete idiots for doing so? Also my prerogative.

If I would have been FS fan that time and Russian, I would respond "OK, west, forget about using Tchaikovski, Korsakov, Stravinsky etc. next time without our approval." I've learned that Sinitsina and Katsalapov's free dance in the next season will be to the music of Antonín Dvořák, who is our national musical treasure. More than that, we've played "Songs My Mother Taught Me" on my granddad's funeral. And I am proud when someone from abroad uses such music, not complaining.
