Alina Zagitova

Ok, everyone, this persons IG is wonderful. She only has 4 posts but they are about Alina and two of them have the sweetest account of meeting her and watching her with Aljona Savchenko after the show. Not kidding I teared up a little reading it. And it ended on a cliffhanger! Waiting patiently for the rest of the story.

I was already a huge fan of Savchenko. Didn't think it was possible to love her more!

The Alina story begins on her prior post. The one before the link I posted. It is so sweet!

Thank you so much for sharing this, and the posts are now complete with all the stories (5 posts in all). Reading fan accounts of their encounters with Alina is always great, and they all have the same vibe and general theme it is great to see how kind she is to people.

Sometimes if one thing is different everything is different. Different doesn't necessarily mean better. Whatever has been given to her, for better or worse, has worked out in spades. With the exception of Worlds (which I honestly don't think anyone could have foreseen or prevented) she has won everything for two seasons at the Junior and Senior level. She has beaten everyone and Worlds she wasn't defeated so much as she beat herself. :(

I won't even pretend to understand Eteri. But you can't argue with the fact that she gave Alina two mathematically unbeatable programs, choreographed those programs down to the last breath, packaged her beautifully as a ballerina for her senior debut AND did all of this in an Olympic year knowing she would be going up against her 'second daughter' Evgenia.

Your second paragraph says it all Finley. Very true. What Eteri did for Alina in 2017 and 2018 has been unbelievable. She designed the programs and the high-scoring backloading strategy that enabled Zagitova to edge Medvedeva for Olympic gold. Incredible.

Soon, Alina will need a new autograph, a shorter))
to have time to sign for everyone :)

Was rewatching the NBC com (Tara and Johnny) for Alina’s FS on the team event and Johnny said that her 3Lutz+3loop combo is worth almost as much points as a quad lutz because of where it was placed on the program.

With that info i think for the next season Alina will only add a new jump (3axel or quad) if she is really comfortable and consistent with it, as a way to push the envelope even further. She really doesn’t need to do it to be super competitive and can dó pretty awesome just by further perfecting the jumps she already has on her arsenal.

I don't even know why some people think she needs 3A or quads, when in fact there is currently no senior skaters with content close to what Alina does.
Just a reminder that Alina's base value is the highest ever among Olympic gold medalists. Who can beat her in technical score? Trusova is still junior and it's a big question if she can keep her quads. Kihira is extremely inconsistent(can land 3A in one competition, and fall two times on a step sequence in another). Who else? Evgenia says she will improve her content, but it's not like she will suddenly start jumping quads or 3A.

Of course there is a lot of "ifs" and "whethers", but one should count that sometime in the future there will be somebody among seniors who shall do quads or 3A. If Sasha (or Alena or anybody else) will not keep it till senior level, somebody probably will. It is always advantage to have something in reserve. And it is probably better to have two seasons to master it than one. After all the sport is still developing, even Zhenya said it, to preserve oneself at the top means you still need something which helps you to be in front. If e. g. rules will be changed and Alina could not rely on backloaded programs, it would be better to have some other triumph. Its not a vital question for her of course, just matter of having something more than others.

Alina does not need to add anything in the next year or two she just needs to mature some more. Maybe add 3A in a couplle years if alena or sasha are beating her.

It is rumoured that during his visit to Russia in May, PM Abe will deliver an Akita puppy to Olympic gold medalist Alina Zagitova. Abe tried to give an Akita puppy to Putin in Dec 2016 but was rebuffed. Putin received one Akita dog (Yume) as a gift from the prefecture in 2012.

Saw this on twitter from @JamesDJBrown (who apparently writes on Russian-Japanese relations at Temple University in Tokyo, Japan)

I don't know how valid the rumor is - but this would really be a HUGE deal for Alina if it happens!

I guess we will see what happens....

Thanks. A lovely account! So looks like Alina does speak some English!

I was curious about that too, it looks like her vocabulary is increasing (which is no surprise since 2017/2018 have been years of heavy international experience for her).

:dance2:

Does anyone know exactly when his visit is scheduled? It would be nice if it coincided with her b'day. No big deal....just cake and an Akita puppy with Putin and the Japanese PM for her 16th b'day.

I agree. Even if not a 3A she could do both 3F 3Lo and 3Lz and 3Lo combination in the free.

Or add more tanos.

If Google Translate is being accurate, Alina chose a red haired female puppy (from pictures of "candidate" dogs) during her visit to Japan to perform on SOI. The dog will be presented to the public in Odate on May 3rd and then will be given to her in late May or early June.

Japanese speakers are welcome to the link with this news https://www.nikkansports.com/general/nikkan/news/201804220000209.html (no pictures sadly).

Her birthday is on May 18th, the Japanese Prime Minister will be in Russia on May 26th (according to news sites, but he is going to St Petersburg, again according to same news sites), but maybe that could happen...

But since this is an Odate Prefecture endeavor I think they will be the ones to present the dog to her, hoping they bring along a TV crew and plenty of cameras so we get to see this magical moment.

That makes more sense and also sounds like more fun Alina. (No offense to Putin or the PM!) And yaay for TV crew! I want to see everything! I also hope they do it for her birthday, because I really think it is all she wants!
