This was my first reaction as well. But this has the potential to bring out even more of Alina's dramatic side by giving her a character to play and get inside for an entire season.

Yes, it's an old horse. A war-horse at that. But, she could bring something to it.

(So help me God, if her long program is Les Miz we will fly to Moscow together and give Daniil a mental evaluation. Kidding. Kind of.)

Even if Alina doesn't get a tango for her LP - maybe she could at least get one for her exhibtion.

I 100% agree that she would be fantastic with tango music. I don't know much about dancing - but it seems like her sharp, precise movements and her flexibility would really be highlighted in tango music.
