Accoring to this tweet - in the press conference she said she would also like to improve her English skills.

She is so wise beyond her 16 years.
Her answers always seem to be well-thought and concise.
Wanting to "pay it forward" with the masterclasses - so other kids will become interested in figure skating.
Also glad to see she is keeping the same elements in her SP (which I assume means the lutz-loop combo is still there!)
EdRoz earlier said that she is basically an introvert, which is probably true.
But every interview, TV appearance, etc... I have seen her do since Olympics - she has handled herself brilliantly and I think it is because she is always true to herself. She doesn't need to invent some "persona" to become popular.
Good example of that - her genuine look ofwhen "Fake Hanyu" made his appearance on the Japanese game show. Pure TV Gold and so unforced.
A shy person is usually well worth the effort it takes in getting to know them.
That is nice news!! I love to see her taking an interest in English, not for the sake of international competitions or Ice shows (or the TV programs she participates in) because for those she'll always have the availability of an interpreter. But for making friends with the other skaters that would be a plus. Also it is a nice skill to have to speak or understand multiple languages.

I want Alina to learn English because....
1) I am too lazy to learn Russian.
2) I want to know the REAL meaning of "the dog smells"![]()

Maybe I can trade her, I want to learn Russian. I tried using the app Duolingo but apparently they don't believe in the "walk before you run" approach as we have to read stuff in Cyrillic since level 0. Well if I wanted to guess at stuff and "fake it till I make it", I'd stick to listening to Alina's interviews without subtitles. That is nice news!! Advice from Alinka friends how to learn English))
- Alina , how is your English?
- Well, now I know him a little better. For example, girls say that it is not necessary to teach-teach. They have a lot of experience, they traveled to different competitions many times, communicated with foreigners and gradually learned the words. So much easier.

But I'm right with you on 2), oh the joys of speaking another language so well you can get its subtleties.
Blast from the past, 3 pictures I’ve never seen before of little Alina

I will admit that I do not personally have a dog nor am I around them much. However, I think I know the smell she's talking about. Pets often have distinct smells, just like humans. And I don't mean bad smells. Just that smell - you go to someone's house and think "yep, a dog lives here."
On a random note, I remember watching an interview with Tom Ford and I remember him saying he loves the smell of his dog's earsHe says it reminds him of buttered toast! So, these are obscure smells to describe, but are nonetheless very distinct to people. I'm sure Masaru smells like a nice smell for Alina!

The english translation says the dog smells. But I am sure Alina did not say that because it would cause an international incident.
I find it kind of sad that Alina enjoyed the dog ceremony alot more than she did when she won Olympic gold. Its nice to see her beaming though.
