Eteri just wanted to encourage Diana, who couldn't jump at that point, saying: look I tried singles, ice dance and I wasn't successful in either of them, but I am as a coach.... so no tragedy if you are not good as a single, you can try ice dance (i think at this moment Evgenia said: yes, ice dancers are so beautiful and stylish - to diminish the preconception that ice dancers are less skaters than the singles) .... and if this doesn't work either, there are other things for each of us in which we can be successful (my interpretation).
More than sure, Eteri wants Diana to feel like all the other kids and more important to be happy.
As for Alina trying pairs, I think it was a suggestion even before going to Eteri.... her father said that although she didn't have good results for a long timr, the coaches- Eteri and co always said she had potential.

Hi madison!! Welcome back hope you had a great time.

Thanks for the infos!!! I love pairs and Ice Dance, both look very demanding and people need lots of skill to excel in them.

I’m full of admiration for practitioners of any form of Figure Skating, they make something difficult look effortless and easy, not to mention really beautiful.

Alina thought about moving to pairs then a few years later she became an Olympic champion in singles [emoji23] I don’t know why, but I’m just not a big pairs or ice dance fan. I prefer singles, ladies mostly, because my favourites are all there lol. Figure skating wouldn’t be the same for me again if she moved to pairs

And because there’s also only 1 person to focus on skating in singles whereas in pairs and dance there’s 2 and I find it quite hard to watch cause I’m a person who wants to see all the details, so it’s easy to just have one person to look at [emoji23]

Google translate decided the correct word to use to describe the children meeting Alina at the Izhevsk airport was, I kid you not, - "solemn".

I now have major trust issues with Google translate.
